Swamp Dog
Ski Diva Extraordinaire
yes, I actually got to ski yesterday. We got up at zero-dark-thirty and headed to Sunapee. We were very early but it was better to beat the rush thru Boston than to sit in it for God knows how long.
Then it happened. The third run of the day. Totally blindsided. Hit another skier. All I know is that I went around a small child in front of me and apparently skied into my own. My own child that is. I never saw him. He says I hit him. I say he hit ME! Either way, our stuff and ourselves were strewn over about a 20 yard stretch of the trail. And the young lad I skied around was retrieving it all for us.
We took inventory of ourselves and were having a pretty good laugh until I saw all the blood on Matt's face. His forehead looked like he'd been in a pretty bad car crash. His mouth and nose were bleeding as well. We went to the lodge and cleaned him up. This is my 6'2" 225lb baby! How does he get the worst of it if I hit HIM? He had to have hit me.... (that's my story and I'm sticking to it!)
We laughed about it for a while, skied some more, had lunch, but then he wasn't feeling so hot so we headed home. He's got a sinus infection brewing as well so I'm sure that didn't help the throbbing in his head.
Anyhow, the snow was great, Sunapee is beautiful as always, and Matt will live. I am sore. My upper arms and groin muscles are very sore. I'll live as well. Tore the top sheet a bit on my new Atomics but I think they're ok too.
Hopefully we'll get one more day in before calling it quits for the season. If he dares to go with me again LOL
