Just starting to flurry at Mammoth. Tomorrow we will probably light a fire, eat junk food, and enjoy being "snowed in". Staying until Tuesday so DH can take advantage of his last chance this season for winter conditions.

We just went to Vons and it was pretty crowded. Of course it's Saturday, but I suspect that a lot of shoppers are stocking up for the 2-3! feet of snow that is forecast.

Still snowing lightly at Mammoth. 12-18" overnight. Got 4-7" yesterday. Not bad for mid April.

Some shots from my Lake Louise trip. We had a really great time! I can highly recommend the Post Hotel to you Divas. We got a really good rate (comparable to the other inns like Lake Louise and Mountaineer) and they have a free private shuttle to the mountain that takes about 5 minutes. We didn’t miss the nightlife in Banff (we’re old) and had plenty of good food at the Post, the HI Lake Louise hostel, and the Lake Louise Inn — all within close walking distance of The Post. So very laid back easy trip. Highly recommend!

Alta got cold snow overnight. I left on Tuesday evening, but my ski buddy who drove from NM, Bill, is still there. :snow: :becky:

Just spent a week at Mammoth. We got 3-4' of snow over several days. Too bad I wasn't skiing.

They may get more snow this week and will be open "at least" until Memorial Day. I'm betting on June 15 if they get additional snow.

We may take one more trip so DH can get a few more days before my surgery.

Heavenly shut down early on April 5. Then it snowed. Apparently Heavenly decided to open very limited terrain for a final weekend. Seems that may be a first.

Thanks to a mid-week refresh, the snow at Big Sky was lovely yesterday, especially off the tram. My SO and I had a couple of free lift vouchers from a friend who works there, so we lapped the tram all morning! It was lovely, but STILL haven’t skied Liberty Bowl because it was closed (the bowl itself was fine, but the runout back to the lift melted away…) Overall we had a blast and between the tram in the morning and the mashed potatoes after noon, our legs were cooked by 1:30 so we enjoyed a lovely beer on the patio.

Another mid-week refresh is in the forecast for true closing weekend next weekend.

Well.... A-Basin is re-opening next weekend, and if you'd asked me if they were going to make mid-May this year I would have seriously doubted it. There's not much open, and there's no base, but it's been feeling a little wintery in Summit lately and I'll take it. It's been snowing a bit the past few weeks and there's more in the forecast this week, both up here and down along the Front Range, which would be amazing. Not sure where this weather was literally all winter but what're you gonna do.

View from mid-mountain up towards the summit.

View down towards Keystone and Dillon. Lake level is about 9k feet.

Plenty of snow on the ABasin webcams tonight. Low in the teens overnight and high in the 20s tomorrow. :snow:

Plenty of folks willing to wait a bit in a lift line for May turns at ABasin. Looking at the Summit webcam, doesn't look crowded on the open slopes.

Just had a great 5 days at Mammoth with SkiTalk pals, and, for a few days each: @Rainbow Jenny from Truckee and my daughter who lives in San Diego. Shout out to @WaterGirl who recognized me from SkiTalk posts and came over to say hello in Main Lodge loading zone. Perhaps we’ll get some runs in together next year.

Late season at Mammoth is pretty special.Much of the ski atea and 2 of 4 base lodges are closed, but the excellent upper Chairs 3, 5 and 23 and summit gondola were open weather permitting with plenty of snow. We had fog, some snow/hail/graupel, even a lightning hold first 2 days, kept mostly to Chairs 1 and 2, a little 10 and 5 ….then ended up with 3 bluebird days, temps in the 40s-50s….no cold toes! Ski on to every lift every run. Photo from Thursday on the apron of Dropout Chute off Chair 23. No one got a photo of my defensive side slip down the entry. It wasn’t pretty, but I got to where there was good snow and soft manageable bumps.

Where's the snow? It's falling from the sky and Mammoth has extended the season to June 7.

I'm sitting here icing my knee and watching the cams. Oh well, what's a Skibum to do?

I have two good knees, but I'm 2,600 miles away and slowly turning green.

Well most of my friends feel that it's not worth the 6 hour drive from LA. It's certainly not worth flying into the area. I'm sure it's all locals and season pass holders. But in the old days, we used to go up for closing day. People wore costumes and gathered at the top of the mountain to drink beer and have a snowball fight. It was a real cap to the season.

Even with 2 good knees, my time for doing that is long past. But it's fun to think about it.

Banff Sunshine got more snow and is reopneing for summer skiing!

"It’s snowing! The forecast is showing 26cm of snow is expected today and tonight with 7cm more tomorrow—setting the stage (and the slopes) for great summer skiing and snowboarding.

We are currently closed for the season and open for summer skiing June 20 - July 5, 2026."

I saw this! Thinking about whether it’s worth the trip from NY.

Meanwhile down here there is no snow , as in no snow  Its still early days yet but so far "Winter" (note the brackets !) has been super mild and the ski areas that were planning on opening this weekend have all delayed.
