So now that you're not skiing......

@geargrrl I agree completely. I just bought my bike not too long ago and fully intend on getting a helmet. I have gone on a couple tiny little rides around my neighborhood. I just meant that I think I'll get even more into bike riding once I have that helmet.

@Christy gorgeous pictures; I especially love the one of the cabin and the lake.

What is everyone doing for the long weekend?

We are headed to the casino tomorrow night to try to get in to see Living Colour. Probably just chilling the rest of the weekend. May take a road trip. Last year we wound up in Albany, NY which was cool.

Trying to stay cool is my plan. We don't have a "lake place" or even friends with one. Biking is out of the question for me with the projected triple digits... I went for a 7 am short ride and here is is three hours later and I still feel dizzy and like I'm going to barf.

Heat wave here too--upper 80s and even up to 95 Sunday! We have been breaking all sorts of records. So I probably will try to enjoy the water like everyone else will be--we'll go kayaking, and there is a wooden boat festival going on where you can tour people's beautiful wooden boats and yachts. Maybe bike down to see the fireworks, though so often 10 pm rolls around and we say, do we really want to head out now? Let's just watch on tv.

Here in Vermont I'm still sort of waiting for summer to get rolling; it's been unseasonably cool with lots and lots of rain. I think it's finally supposed to heat up over the next few days. If it's summer, let it be summer already.

For the Fourth, we're going to some friends who have a cabin on a lake in NY state. We've spent probably 30 of the past 35 Fourth of Julys with them, so it's a real tradition -- one I dearly cherish.

@Christy Wow. Just Wow!

We are going to be rather boring this holiday weekend I am afraid. For some reason, Oceanside does their fireworks on the 3rd? It works for us. We can see them from the back deck - how well depends on the clouds or lack there of. Either way it's easy. DS will have a couple of friends over. I am recovering from a tooth extraction and a bone graft that is rather owie! Happy 4th every one.

We're in Winter Park for the weekend.

But I've been doing better than usual riding in the heat this year at home. I've taken to soaking my long sleeve shirt in water before I start and drinking a couple bottles of water before heading out and that has eliminated the headaches I used to get exercising in the heat. I do still head to elevation whenever possible, but it's still been in the 90s even up high.

Its a lovely 77 degrees right now with low humidity so its quite gorgeous outside.

DH dragged me to the gym and I didn't get lucky with a yoga class about to start this time so I decided to get some much needed cardio. Did a mixture of cardio on the treadmill and some peddling on the bike. Also weighed myself and was very happy to see I have lost 2lbs. Only 2lbs but better down than up right. I am also feeling more svelte in the middle so cheers to yoga and pilates. Now its time to go make myself pretty and go watch some live music.

Happy 4th of July eve to all!!

This weekend was great for the most part weather wise finally.. got to enjoy the beach on Friday and Sunday, and Saturday I went boating. The water was a bit rough for my liking yesterday with big waves continuously, but DH was out diving into the waves for a good long time while I enjoyed the sun, sand and my kindle on the beach. I prefer more mellow waves and floating around than the need to constantly be diving under the waves or get crashed into, plus the water could be a little warmer still! Most weekends so far the weather has been too cold or rainy so I hadn't gotten to the beach yet this season, glad to finally have nice weather and get our summer parking pass etc. We got lucky yesterday, while we were in line to park they actually shut the gate 5 cars behind us because the beach lots were full (there was a line at least a half mile down the road waiting to get in at the time that got turned away), this is quite rare for the beach I frequent because it's huge, I think the holiday weekend and finally getting the weather we wanted drove lots of people out there.

So far my summer has been ... taking care of SIL after appendectomy, followed by a tooth extraction because of a crack at the root and that now may possibly be infecting my entire mouth.

Since I can't talk because of the pain, I used my time to sculpt 2 of the models for my plaster casting for next year's production of The Lion King. Well, I actually only sculpted the lioness. For the giraffe, I did a build on top of a cheesy plastic mask that was too small for my purposes. I paid for my cheat. I found a bunch of cracks in the snout this morning. I filled them so I hope it will hold.IMG_3008.jpgIMG_3003.jpg

So, basically, this is what I am doing with my summer vacation!

Very cool, I wish I had any kind of artistic bone in my body, but alas I do not. I'm seriously lacking in any form whatsoever, I remember having to do tons of extra credit in high school art class to bring up my grade from a C to an A-.. I mean having art mess up my gpa was not an option since it was an intro class I was just taking for fun!! I tried hard in all that I created, it just wasn't any good.. I really thought an A for effort there would be acceptable, and I guess that's eventually what I got with all f my extra credit work haha.

Hope your infection gets sorted out soon, mouth pain is no fun!! :frown:

Thanks. I can only work 3D. I can't render to save my life so sketching is completely out of the question. I nearly flunked HS art also. It was the 70's and art class was basically: "Do whatever moves you..." So I made a whole bunch of pipes and ash trays! The teacher never once suggested that if my pipes and ash trays were that creative, I might want to try sculpting!

You would have loved our visit. Two of the three days, my parents took us out to their favorite swim area on the pontoon boat - a channel between two small islands on the way to the intracoastal waterway. There was a quite a pull from the tide, but no waves and warm water. I'm not a strong swimmer, so I stayed close where I could stand.

On the middle day, DH went with my brother's family to the actual beach - big waves and whatnot. I hear not many people were in the water.

Ugghh.. Antibiotics? I hope your summer turns around.

@mustski, hope you're feeling better soon!! Those masks look really cool.

Just spent 8 days doing a flooring removal and full replacement, down to the sub-floor - including discovery of previous water damage (not on our “watch”) and some black mold that had to be addressed (i.e., rip out the drywall). 5 day job turned into 8 due to these fun surprises. Had to replace all the baseboards as well - not planned. Finally wrapped it up afternoon of 7/4.

Project #2 down (#1 was concrete repair and resurfacing), on to the next: driveway crack fill and seal.

All these people with leisure time! Envious. For some homeowners, it never ends - and summer is a short span in which to get it done.

Someone here once mentioned that their "housekeeper uses too much Windex.”
Seriously?

Say My Name.
I AM the one who “Windexes.”
