I just want to say that as this site matures it is getting more and more obvious what the benefits are of a woman-only ski forum. One thing I notice is my feeling of freedom to say whatever I want, without fear of being labelled only-a-girl-with-less-than-significant-interests. We can bring up makeup, and falling, and helmet-hair. And food to eat. And clothes. And injuries. These things simply could not (maybe) be discussed without some negative brou-ha-ha on Epic Ski. I love this!

Do others agree?

I too, love The Ski Diva.com
I think this site is filling an untapped niche in the world of skiing. I like to have my female friends to chat with about the stuff I love and though I have friends who like skiing, they don't have the passion for the sport that I tend to have, and that's where you ladies fill the need.
However, I must say EpicSki is still the best on line source for ski gear and tech help. I think the Ski Diva's can benefit from a lot of the things that are offered there.

This site is the ultimate for diva specific topics!

Amen! I love epicski since there are very knowledgeable people there, but often feel uneasy about posting and being labelled a gaper :o . Here I get the the knowledge and the female empathy factor.

Divas Rule!!!!!! :D

I check out epic ski several times a day. I often come across threads that give me good info. I have posted a few times with some technical Q's and resort Q's
but mostly don't have much to say.

I feel more comfortable posting on this forum - and of course, we have our own official Gear Diva in SnowHot - so I can get woman specific gear info whenever I want!

Hey, everyone!

I just walked in, turned on my computer, and this is what I found.

Wow.

I can't tell you how great it is to hear all this. What you say you're finding here -- a site where women can feel comfortable talking about whatever is on your mind about skiing -- is just what I was after when I dreamed this up.

Of course, what makes it so great is all of you. The caliber of the people who have joined, and the conversations we've had so far, are absolutely phenomenal. I feel honored -- and totally blown away -- to have each and every one of you as registered members.

I check EpicSki myself all the time. I have tremendous respect for it (I'm an EpicSki Supporter), and I think it's a great site. But I think Snowhot is right; that this site fills a niche that EpicSki just doesn't.

What's particularly incredible is that TheSkiDiva.com isn't even a month old. I agree with Liquidfeet. I think that as this site matures, it's going to get better and better and better.

Thanks to all of you.

Love you all,
Wendy

I agree, SO FAR, but who knows where this will go as more and more women find this site.
There are many guys, and maybe women too, at EpicSki who love to analyze ski movements waaay beyond normal, and I love to snoop on them as they discuss, one-up, and argue with one another. I've learned a lot this summer both about skiing and about men's ways of talking with each other by just reading those threads. It's fun to figure out whose comments I agree with and whose comments I dismiss. And when I get in over my head technically, it makes me feel real humble, which may work to my benefit when I actually get back out on the snow.

However, it feels real funny to jump in and make a post, then get either ignored or misinterpreted. Posting there is a bit unfulfilling for me at this point. One more time, HOORAY for SkiDiva.com!!!

My dear husband just looked over my shoulder and asked could he become an honorary ski diva.

He reminded me that a friend of ours once described him as 'skiing like a girl', (but then justified it by saying he meant that hubby has a very refined, smooth style!!)

I asked my husband if he wanted to be an honorary Ski Diva, and he said "I thought I already was."

Hearing about the Ski Diva site on Epic was a big:yahoo: for me! Thank you Snowhot for directing me. As I told her on Epic, I want to be a Ski Diva too ! I'm really glad this forum is here. No ski club locally & since I'm taking a long break from all things resembling bureaucracy & politics, the freedom of a forum is easy to embrace. I really like the postings in all the areas I've read so far. Looking forward to reading more & maybe getting a chance to ski with any of the local Divas this coming year.

Welcome Clouds -- another CA Diva -- how nice!
This is a great forum; great info and very down to earth, supportive, etc. Saw your post on skiing Tahoe; I'm there just about every week-end of ski season...PM me some time.

Thank you Ski Spirit. Would love to hit Tahoe & ski with you. If you ski SLT I'm only 2 mi off Hwy 50 before you hit Placerville. I'm only 45 mins. from Auburn on 80 for the north end. I'll put you on the buddy feature here. Think I'll do that with all tahoe skiers for a future list for Diva Day '07/08.:ski2:
