Snowbird, May 23

With 16 inches of new snow, how could I go straight to work? The mountain was calling me, telling me, 'ditch work', it'll be fine.

And it was. Since it was spontaneous, had no ski buddy to go with me. Besides the zero visibility (dang clouds and snow), it was great. Even some nice powder. Went through the tunnel to Mineral Basin, hit Little Cloud a couple of runs.

I've never skied at a resort this late in the season and never on Memorial Day!!!! Pics were a challenge (the cloud) but I did take a few pics and a video, will send later.

Even made it into work, so I'm not a TOTAL slacker.:nono::nono:

Winter in May

Sound like a heavenly day . . . What a luxury to be able to ski so late in the season.

It really is. A mixed blessing too, as just as you are ready to shift gears to yard/run/bike things, winter revisits and other plans, and job stuff, get put on hold. Yet, even if I don't ski, the knowing that I 'could' pop up for a few turns, is good for the head.

Snowbird TR on Epic

I skied the morning, and ran into adverse conditions due to a complete white out/fog/flat light, as well as a couple of fabulous runs down Little Cloud, to fresh pow in Gad Valley.

I started to upload a few of my Snowbird pics from yesterday, but the flat light did not translate into great pics.

I found this TR to Snowbird on Epic and he captured the essence of my day (with a few more jumps and all):

I missed the big slides, as I went to work as it got really set up. Little Cloud was the most fun I've had on skis for a couple of months.

Those pictures in the thread on epic are unbelievable. Amazing that you got to ski conditions like that in late May.
