So...I have discovered that size matters after all!
A couple of weeks ago, I visited the Salt Lake area to enjoy some skiing with my husband. (Arizona, again, had another dismal snow year. This will probably be the last time we purchase season passes)
My true intent was to demo skiis. As an intermediate skier I wanted to discover the relationship of a ski and my potential. I tried several, many of them recommended by you ladies, and reviews. Had a great time, but nothing really clicked until one of my last demos. When I returned home I purchased the pair I liked and could work with the best.
Also, on my agenda was to re-check the boots I own with the Bootfitters in Park City. Not really wanting to blame"the gear" for my technical difficulties---some much room for error when you're an intermediate---I still had a nagging doubt about the fit of my boots.
As I skiied I became too aware of trying to maintain balance, getting over the ski, and feeling my toes curl up so often that i realized my brain was engaged more frequently on these issues, and the accompanying cursing, rather than all the" fun" I was having!
Yes, my boots are too BIG.
recommended were junior race boots. High-quality, low volume, small sizes. I need a 21 or 21.5 . Now that i own new skis I have discovered that the bindings will not accommodate these little boots. The maunfacturer of the skis initially said that the sole length of my boot of interest would fit. Then when I questioned them again, just to be sure, they said "no bueno".
MY QUESTION TO THE DIVAS: Any of you have a similar problem and which boots did you find work best for you? At this point I have new skis and need a boot that will fit! I already have a 22.5 (22.0), although the volume is not low.
by the way Skigirl; I desperately wantedd to demo the Fischer Vi70, but no one even carried them. But...hey, if I wanted to purchase them here from a store or two in Phoenix they have them right there in stock. Go figure.
