Question: Skinny ski length

We are heading to Europe this Saturday. The ski rental company that I have signed up with pretty much has all skinny skis - mid 70's waists. They have tip rocker and camber as far as I have been able to tell. I normally ski low 160s in my mid fat skis, 169 in my powder skis, and my Renoun Z90s are 157.

Should I stick with the same length or should I size down? I noticed that Volants and LaCroix - which I want to try - seems to start at 138! Is that because shorter is better in this case?

For cruising long groomers, may not want to go too short. My narrower skis, 78mm, are 10cm shorter than my all-mountain skis, 85mm. When I rented demo skis that were 70mm in the northeast, those skis were half-way in-between those two in terms of length. They were fine on groomers.

Rental skis given to beginners and intermediates in the southeast are very short. I've seen men who are close to six feet on skis that were under 160cm. They were narrow skis for groomers designed for a rental fleet.

I could be totally off base, but what is the radius? I'm thinking (from a SL vs. GS perspective) if the radius is longer, you want a longer ski; short radius, shorter ski. The Renouns have a 16m radius....so if the rental ski has a 12m radius, you probably would be okay on a ski shorter than the Renouns?

Got it. Thanks. My Renouns are a 2.5 prototype so the radius is 14 so probably around the same length then. I just don’t want to get put on something ridiculously short because I’m female.
