ABasin is gearing up for the upcoming season. From today's eBlast:

Get a 3-, 4-, and 5-day ski/snowboard pass to Arapahoe Basin before September 8 and save $40 while supplies last!

Next season, public transportation returns to A-Basin and we have a new, featured lodging partner: The Pad in Silverthorne. We will re-open an expanded il Rifugio (highest elevation restaurant in North America) and debut Steilhang Hut, an on-mountain German restaurant with a wraparound deck.

Too bad I’m working that day! I’m pretty close to Plattekill. Never skied there; it’s supposed to be one of those “hidden gems” - intense skiing with a no-frills, old time atmosphere. It sounds quite challenging!

Plattekill has very nice blues around the side. The challenging runs are down the middle. There is usually at least one that is groomed on one side and allowed to bump up on the other for those feeling adventurous. Keep in mind it's only open Fri-Sun, plus the occasional powder day.

Haven't been to the Work Day but hoping to make it this fall. That day definitely requires being in good shape. There is hiking of about 3 miles to get to the trees and brush that need to be cut and dragged out of the way. People need to carry their own water and snacks for the morning. Good work gloves are necessary.

Aspen is reaching out to folks in Southern California. $75 1-way plane tickets and $75 lift tickets to celebrate 75 years. Lots of conditions so read the fine print.

Very good deal. What about No Cal airports ? I have flown into Aspen airport via Denver about 10 years ago and was probably $600 then. But we were staying in Snowmass and had free airport pick up so was ideal. As many of you know (who know me), I'm all about not renting a car and staying slope side !

For newbies in the Boston area, Pats Peak recently opened up sales for their "Passport Plus" program- 4 days of lesson, lift, rentals, and at the end get a pair of Elan beginner skis and a season pass. Cost is around $470. If you miss out on that (limited number) there's still a program where you get a season pass and free rentals for the rest of the season after 4 beginner lessons.

For Wachusett skiers, there's a 3 pack of 8 hour tickets ($249) and a 6 pack of 4 hour tickets ($299), both are on sale for 20% off through Nov 15. So with the 6 pack on sale, that would be about $40 a pop, instead of the usual $70 per 4 hour session on weekends or $62 weekdays. And as a plus, I believe they are fully "4 hour" regardless of start time, so no need to match up with ticket window session times.
