Liftopia 2018 Gift Card Sale
Liftopia: Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2018 Gift Card sale

"BUY A $200 LIFTOPIA GIFT CARD WE'LL ADD A $25 BONUS!"

Liftopia sells MCP. Past years, I've taken advantage of this sale and used it toward the purchase of MCP. (Even though I don't know if MCP will still be around next year but this is another discussion).

Looks like Black Friday and/or Cyber Monday are being used by ski resorts. Massanutten has a Black Friday sale going on for lift tickets for 25% off. Mount Snow is previewing a Cyber Monday sale that includes a 4-pack good anytime and is transferable. Also will have the Peak Discovery Program package for beginners on sale for $99 instead of $139. That's quite a deal for 3 days covering rental gear, lift ticket, and lesson.

Sunday River has Cyber Monday prices for advanced purchase lift tickets. Hard to tell which days are "on sale" more than usual though.

There is an offer for folks in driving distance of central NY State that's a bit unusual. It's called Ski Finger Lakes. Open to anyone who isn't a resident of NY State. The idea is that you get a 30% discount on lift tickets at Greek Peak, Labrador, Song, or Toggenburg. Greek might be called a mid-size mountain for the region. The other three are small hills. Binghamton is the biggest city nearby.

I could see going for a weekend from Philly. But for someone in DC/Baltimore there are other options that may make more sense for weekend ski trip that involves a 6-hour drive one-way.

I was just hunting around for cheap home school ski deals and unfortunately this one is only for VT- but Pico has a Student pass for only $99 for VT residents. And it has some benefits for family too, like 50% off weekend lift tickets.

A little closer to home, Pats Peak has lift tickets for home schoolers and their families on Mondays and Thursdays for only $25. You can add in rentals and lessons as needed- ticket, rentals, and lesson is $45. And you can either sign up for one day at a time, or pay in advance for 5 and get 6 days. No residency or anything required, just have a kid age 6 or up in tow.

And one more if anyone is thinking of skiing with kids in New Hampshire on a weekday- I found a Gunstock home school program that is for 4 Mondays in January- the price includes a one hour lesson, and a season pass! You can choose either a weekday pass for $159 or a full 7 day pass is $249. The student program pass also gets the parent a half price lift ticket. Even if you don't home school, I'd say that makes letting your kid play hookie for one day a week for a month worth thinking about. Ages 6-19.

From Sugarbush, this is a great deal: 4 one-hour private lessons for $340., on sale through December 14. Valid non-holiday through the 18/19 season. This is 47% off the weekend rate, and they're transferrable, so you can share them with friends and family.

Checked out Attitash for the first time this afternoon. They have some interesting special deals.

I bought a midweek ticket on Tuesday for Thursday. $42 for a ticket good at Wildcat and Attitash on the same day. Drive took just about 20 minutes. I can see the advantage of having two places in different canyons to choose from when buying in advance. If it's too cold and windy, or visibility is too low at Wildcat, then Attitash can be a backup.

Feels a bit early, but there are spring deals popping up.

Big Sky is selling an April pass. Don't remember hearing about that before. Last day seems to be April 21, Easter Sunday, which is later than usual. The pond skim is scheduled for April 20. Available thru Feb. 28, 2019 for $299. There was an early bird price until Feb. 11.
