Skiing in Quebec .... need recommendations.

Hi all,
My friends and I are planning on going to Quebec city and none of us has been there before. We are all intermediate skiers (blues/greens). Would love to go see the old Quebec city as well. Quebec city will be celebrating its 400th year anniversary, so we are thinking of staying at a place where we can ski as well as take a tour of the city.

If anyone of you has been there before please advice where we can stay .... definitely looking for cheap deals, and also which resort will be closer to Quebec city. We live in Burlington, VT so thinking about driving there.

Cheers =)

Skiing around Quebec City

Ste Anne, le Massif and Stoneham are all within 30-45 minutes of the city. Each hill offers a variety of accomodations. You can rent a chalet, or stay in one of the hotels. Alternatively, you could stay in the city and travel to one of the hills each day and see the city as well. Buses run from some of the hotels in the city centre to the resorts. Parking is available in the city, but can be treacherous. If staying the in 'burbs, parkings good. Quebec is beautiful and the mountains super fun. Enjoy!

I have heard good things of St. Anne and Massif, but I have never been to either. The Boy and i stayed down south at Sutton and had alot of fun. I would love to see Quebec City too, I've heard they have one of the best Chinatown's in N. America!

Happy Feet posted a trip report to Quebec and Le Massif. She seemed to like it quite a bit. Go here.

I would stay in Ste. Anne de Beaupre. Its sort of in the middle of everything. You can drive into Quebec City about 1/2 hour, drive to Ste. Anne - 15 min, Stoneham about 25 min and Le Massif about 40 min from there. We usually stay there or on the mountain at Ste. Anne. For years we did stay in Ste. Foy, but the drive into Quebec city from there is crazy, just for dinner.
Check the Ste. Anne website for accomodation deals. Also the Quebec tourism board. (I can't find those website on this computer!)
Another option if you only want to ski Le Massif is to stay in Charlevoix. Spa, casino???

Quebec city is my hometown so feel free to ask any question. When are you planning on going? The weekend of the 26th, the event cash ice red bull will be in town. I might also be around. There's also the Carnaval Feb 1st-Feb17th (https://www.carnaval.qc.ca/en/index.asp ) Here's the website of Quebec tourism:
https://www.bonjourquebec.com/qc-en/accueil0.html

I grew up skiing at the smaller mountains (was an instructor at Le Relais) but my big favorite is Le Massif. The closest to the old city is Le Relais (mostly locals, not very big). Then, you have Stoneham and Ste-Anne about 25 minutes away. Finally, you have Le Massif at 35-40 minutes. Like Jilly, I would suggest Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré or Beauport for a hotel or motel (on boulevard Ste-Anne, there's a lot of motels). Mont Ste-Anne is a nice resort but doesn't have the same wow effect than Le Massif. My mom is a blue-green skier and she loves Le Massif. There's a big choice of green and blue trails (see website). And the food at the cafeteria on the top of the mountain is the best cafeteria food I ever eaten (they hired a renowned chef). Their website is really good: https://www.lemassif.com/en/

I'm going to visit my parents this weekend and might go skiing 3-4h at Le Relais (they only live 8 minutes from the slopes). I'll be able to tell you how are the conditions in the region.

For accomodations, there's also many bed and breakfast (B&B) around Ste-Anne and Le Massif (or closer to old Qc).

Le Relais is a fun little mountain. Maybe I'm biased but I like it for evening skiing. But probably not worth going if compared to Ste-Anne and Le Massif

I went to Quebec city this weekend. Unfortunately, I didn't have a minute to myself so I couldn't take a few hours to go skiing. :( What I can tell you is that: OMG! They have so much snow!!! It's crazy. And with the snow that is falling right now, the conditions must be great.
