Skiing during Sundance 2019 Festival?

DH and I may be traveling to SLC during that time but it is not locked down yet. Any pitfalls or suggestions for skiing during this time frame?

Well a no brainer then! Plus I have heard that slopes may not be as crowded as one might think if "every one" is at Sundance... Park City and Deer Valley are really fun places to ski.. Plus the Canyons is really fun...if you're staying in park city, make your dinner reservations now!!! Great food options!

I skied Alta, Solitute, Brighton, and Snowbird during Sundance. It was a ski club trip, we stayed in Sandy, UT and were bussed to the ski resorts. The festival didn't affect those areas. Went to Park City one evening to check out the Sundance hoopla. That was fun for people-watching...lots of pretty young things wearing high heeled sandals and flimsy dresses without adequate insulating outerwear.

Do I sound old yet?

I'll take warm any day.

Truthfully, reserving in advance won't help. Remember @nopoleskier - when we went, you were the first one there and went to pick up the car we had reserved and they jacked the prices on us anyway!

Yes, That was rotten- I never even got a letter back from Hertz when I complained about the price gouging switching! I've been using priceline and so far so good. of course they always try and upsell something!

My former grad school mentor lives in Park City and she told she and her husband always ski during the festival and the slopes are empty because everyone is at the festival! So you should be good!
@VickiK I'm in my 30s and wouldn't dress like that, in PC in winter, so not sure it's an age thing..

I’ve skied Deer Valley the last 2 years during Sundance intentionally because a good portion of the people are attending the festival and the slopes are less crowded. You can also get around Park City very easily for free with their public transportation system which takes you everywhere.
