Ski suggestions for solid intermediate skier please!!

Hey all! I’m a solid intermediate skier. Mainly ski the East with a yearly trip West and this year we are going to Banff. I’m 5’5”, 115#, 54 years old. Been skiing Blizzard Black Pearls 88/153cm for about 4 years. Looking for another ski…want something different than BP. I have demo’d Volkl Secret 84/161cm and Head Total Joy 85/158cm.
Would love any input/advice!!! Thanks

If you’re looking for something a bit more dynamic, the Armada Reliance 82 Ti could be a great fit. It’s a great option for more playful skiing but still stable enough for the East.

Did you also upgrade your boots?

So how do the Black Pearls feel (with the new boots) compared to the options you tried? Are you looking for a replacement or a second pair of skis? Are you wanting to carve on piste or head into powder and trees? Do you want something really easy to turn, or really stable that doesn't get pushed around? The obvious thought is that 153cm is probably too short for you now - and the 160-ish size more appropriate for the mid-80s all mountain ski. The Black Pearls have also had a lot of changes since 4 years ago and the newer versions seem a lot stiffer, so a newer and longer Black Pearl might be worth adding to the demo list.

I want to carve on piste- some powder days when it happens:smile: No trees!! lol
I didn’t think about trying BP again but that’s a good idea!

Had you thought about going to a two-ski quiver and getting a piste ski + a powder/all mountain? Obviously budget may prevent this but if you had budgeted enough for new skis, often getting ex-demo skis at 50-60% off means you can afford both. This means when you want to carve it is easier and you can really feel what carving is like, and then when you want the float/width you are also not compromising.

I'm on the east coast. The ski I take out the most is the Armanda Reliance 82 Ti. Maneuverable for bumps and to avoid people on the trail, good in a few inches of snow, carves ice well. I took them with me to Banff and Lake Louise last April. Also, they are fairly lightweight so they are not beast to travel with.

I'm also on the East Coast. My newest skis this year are the Fischer Ranger 84s and I love them. Very easy to ski and are a lot of fun.
