Ski size help (Beginner)

I was on a season rental from Loveland's rental shop. I don't remember the exact ski model but it was a Head at 75 waist width and 140cm in length. It was pretty terrible whenever I gained any speed.
Ah, in that case skis that are 150-155 may well be better in the long run.

Have you heard of Outdoor Divas? They do demo days at Loveland.

Oh wow, no I didn't know about the Outdoor Divas, I will definitely plan to go to the demo day in Feb, thank you!

I would be in support of going to a low-150s ski rather than staying in the 140s, especially if you are planning to move more onto the blues in the longer term. Was there any reason you thought the 146cm length was too long? Difficult to turn/loss of control? As an advanced intermediate I generally ski mid- to high 150s on most all-mountain skis (5'2"/120ish lb) so don't think a 150cm would be too much ski, especially for the models you mentioned.

Mainly because the ski shop told me I should stay on a shorter length and those were the options they had available. I called to see what else is in stock and they also have a K2 mindbender 85 in 149 but again, I thought that was too long also based on the feedback I was given from the employee. They have the Blaze in both the 146 and 151, but said maybe that was too big of a jump. I appreciate all the responses here!!

This line..."and those were the options they had available".....red flag!! They are "selling", not helping you. Find another shop!

I didn't even consider them just trying to make a sale. I can definitely go to a different shop in town. Thank you!

That is how people end up in the wrong boots!! Experience on that one. Cost of boots, plus $400 to fix so I could wear them.

Always shop around if you can.

I think the Blaze 82 in 152 or 151 (whichever length it comes in) would be the best. You are still taller than the ski, and it is a better match for your weight than the shorter length. In my view, now that skis actually come in short lengths, the shortest skis in a lineup tend to be for tween-sized people. If that's you, then go for it, but you don't sound tween-sized.
