Ski Resort Nicknames

OK, so I now know that I've been on the "market" for 2 years! I've been skiing at Killington, also known as "K-Mart." I haven't been bought or sold but have made a few good trades along the way!

Related: The Grist Mill, a restaurant/bar along the Killington access road, is also known as "Jurassic Park"--guess why!

Anyone else have any good ski resort nicknames?

It's not really a nickname, but I get a kick out of it when people spell Mt. Snow as "Mt. Sneaux."

Some people call Whiteface Iceface, also.

Mary Jane = The Jane
Arapahoe Basin = A-Basin, A-Ba, or The Basin
Durango Mountain Resort = Purgatory

Ummm.....are we revealing the not-so-nice names that we're aware of as well? I don't think I'm gonna go there. Will just reveal that my home mountain, Sugarloaf, is affectionately referred to as "The Loaf," or "daLoaf." I'm not sure what negative names it has, but I'm sure there are a few....

Purgatory was bought out (in the last 5 years??) and the name was changed to Durango Mountain Resort...Purgatory is what most people call it cuz that is what they remember.:D

In addition to K-Mart, Killington is also called K-ton and The Beast of the East.

Last winter we were at Silverton, but a wind event shut the mountain down so we headed over to Purgatory (I've never stopped calling it that b/c it's a cooler name IMO). At lunch we asked a local about the DMR/Purgatory, what do you call it question. I guess the mountain itself is still called Purgatory, but the ski area is called DMR, so both are apparently technically correct. I was glad b/c now I can still call it Purgatory without sounding like an old lady, "Back in my day we called it Purgatory."
