Ski pant recs?

OK I'm looking for some new ski pants. I just got a new jacket (black) and my current ski pants are:

a) also black (I don't care to look like a ninja, though it does make me look skinny..)
b) cheap insulated columbia pants that I got for $20
c) not really waterproof at all anymore :(

Any recommendations on nice pants (brands)for shorter gals? Also, do you all prefer insulated or non-ins?

My bf boards in bibber shell pants and he likes them, but I'm used to my insulated pants. I kind of like the idea of being able to layer more efficiently (i.e. not sweating it out on hot days) but I am not 100% sold on it...

I actually have two pair of ski pants -- one insulated and one not, for days when it's not that cold. My noninsulated ones are made by Marker -- they make petites. My insulated ones are a larger kids' size. I find that kids pants are more likely to come insulated than pants for adults (don't adults get cold???).

FYI: I'm 5'-1-1/2", and I usually take a size 4.

I am a big fan of the North Face Freedom insulated pants. They have side zips and are super comfortable.

I second the North Face Freedom pants. They're lightly insulated, vented, they have a slightly adjustable waist and they come in short, medium and tall.

Unfortunately, I got mine before I knew they came in short. Next pair...

Btw, I've got the black jacket, black ski pants thing, then again I love black. Embrace your inner ninja :D

I bought a pair of DNA pants last season & love them. They are a shell but have a little insulation in the butt.

I was offered a chance to buy a pair of Isis ski pants from Altagirl last year because they wouldn't fit over her knee brace. Fell in love with them. When I found another pair like them in off white this winter, I snatched them up. When a girl finds ski pants that fit and feel good, you gotta love them!

I was looking at the Lucy pants a while ago. Lots of the Isis stuff looks good.

Have you seen the Split P baselayer? Definitely shows that it's a by women for women company :D

I haven't seen them in a store, but I have seen them on the web. I know the lucy pants I have are not "stretch" pants but there's just enough lycra in them to allow for ..........for lack of a better word, shapely imperfections.( you know we all have them;) ) At the same time, the pants don't have the appearance of being stretchy.

Petite ski pants

I wear a size 2. Pants are difficult to find sometimes. Most of the XS ARE TOO BIG. However, since I am practically an expert on these darn things because of "education" (lots of returns), maybe i can help.
Kjus, Spyder, and Orage make a truly well-fitting petite pant. So does Nils. I have insulated and non-insulated. Nils makes a pant--in black only--Called Marsha. It is a very stretchy and dense pant; quite warm when you layer properly. Also Arcteryx makes quite small items, but I have yet to buy their pants because they have downright ugly colors and are priced too high. I've sent back about 5 of their jackets after ordering...fit well, but ugly tones, and the collars stand up almost over the chin ; not comfortable at all.
Spyder has a great selection of insulated pants in decent colors. Shell pants are too baggy and require lots of layering underneath. All those extra layers can add up to more than the price of the pants!
North Face products tend to run large in my experience...and way too long. Legs and sleeves both.
Couloir also has an extra small size that really is extra small. And for not a lot of money!
I live in an area where there aren't too many shopping options. Backcountry.com has outstanding customer service. At least they understand about satisfying your fit requirements and will gladly accept returns. Patagonia carries real small sizes as well, and the quality is there.(just remembered that!)
If you'd like more specific info, let me know... Now as far as skis and boots go..................I am a true neophite. Converted to the sport but not seasoned.

I second the Isis thought (isisforwomen.com)--I have the Godiva pant and the Electra pant that fit and perform really well. Some of their pants come in petite sizes, too.
