Ski Movies with a Plot

Not much of a plot, but this "film" from 1960 called King of Silver Mountain is quite unusual for an American audience in the 2020s. The star skier is Austrian Toni Sailer. He won multiple Olympic medals in the 1950s, then made several "ski movies." Pretty amazing skiing on long skis in powder on Japanese slopes.

You haven't really lived until you party with the Hot Dog Crew.

We won and still have the original story board from the scene where Robbie Huntoon(stunt double for Harkin Banks) went through the window at Gold Coast

I just loaned Swift Silent Deep to a friend and this thread came to mind.
Its the story of the Jackson Hole Air Force
It is an interesting glimpse into the early days of Jackson Hole mountain resort and the characters that made it, and continue to make it very special. A couple of those guys are my colleagues. I wish I had skied the place back in the day. Fun loving, high performing, whacky dudes from before the days when it was all about getting screen time on social media.

@NWSkiGirl. I am pretty sure that it is the JHAF Jackson Hole air force because of how much time they spent dropping cliffs and catching air time whenever possible

This looks great! It's not free right now, but I'll keep an eye on it.

Why do they call skiers the "air force?"
When you watch the movie you'll get a great idea about it, but from what I recall it's because they get big air when they jump off things. I could be wrong.
Maybe @snoWYmonkey has some insight.

It's a really good movie, worth paying for if you can't find it for free.

@SnowHot I have not watched it since it came out, but I think, if my memory serves me right that you are spot on.
