Ski model names

Is anyone else frustrated by this?

For example, we go from the Fischer Vision 70, 73, 76 etc. one year to the Vapor, Breeze, Exhale, Sneeze, etc. the next.

Give me numbers people! I can't for the life of me remember if one ski is more targeted towards beginners or advanced skiiers, and the names don't help me make those distinctions. At least with numbers, i have a slight chance of remembering things correctly!

Ok... :chillpill: I'm better now. :loco:

Hah, I'd never remember which number I had! Actually, I like the combo names like I have the Attraxion 5 but they make a 3 and a 9 (I think) as well.

Those sorts of numbers don't do anything for me either. 5 of what?

i.M.88? Mojo 90? Big Stix 106? Those numbers tell me something and I can remember the ski.

I'm just thinking about the comparison against the others in their line but I see what you're getting at.

Yeah, it's useful that way, but names like attraxion or balanze or whatever don't really imply much as to what the ski is for either.

Even when it's a stretch - I can remember the Mojo series is more park oriented, Monster is more all mountain and then they have the underfoot dimension as the number. Gotcha. And I like when they add the underfoot dimension to the name so I don't have to memorize it as a separate number.

Honestly, I remember the skis I might want to ever try and there are whole lines (typically groomer oriented skis) that I just mentally file under "do not want" and that's all I remember about many of them.

ROFLMAO!!!! OMG! I thought this was about ski "MODELS" (like girls) names!!!! :ROTF:

You know....Like Bunny, Bubbles, Candy....etc....

(my apologies to Bunny, Bubbles and Candy....) :D

I like names that give you a hint about what the ski does. It's a bit more creative than numbers.

The K2 Luv skis are a good example...First, Lotta, Phat, certainly tells you what you're getting. The Nordica Olympia line has some good ones too, with the Conquer, Speed, Firefox.

i remember the names that apply to me and what i like to ski . . .

but some of the companies come up with some pretty sweet names . . . some gems:

K2 Work Stinx

K2 She's Piste

brilliant!

now if K2 would come up with some better graphics for their ladies skis (or at least DIFFERENT graphics -- pink hibiscus flowers, although lovely, is not EVERY girl's choice for their skis!!!!) :becky:

According to the Salomon rep at the NSIA show last winter, Salomon changed from numbers to names as women don't like numbers!! Yeah, how many accountants, bookkeepers are women. They also stated something about the numbers representing the quality of the ski and women don't want other people to know right off they are on X instead of Y (higher number!) Then Rossi turns around and numbers the Bandit series by the waist width. So, go figure!
