Ski dreams.....

Am I the only one who has them?

Last night I dreamed I was at Steamboat and it was snowing. There was actually no skiing involved; I was just excited, because it was the first snowfall of the season and it was only September.

But I've previously had dreams in which I was skiing.

What about you? And does it mean anything more than "boy, I love skiing and wish I was out there"?

I dream of skiing too. Usually they are the most pleasant dreams. Only rarely do I dream I am out of control. Then something in my life I perceive as out of control too. But usually just happy dreams.

Oh! I Do!
Usually it involves a hunky swedish ski instructor!:o
Except during the winter olympics, my dreams included Daron Rhalves

Guilty! But usually it is a frustrating dream like I'm at the resort and am skiing on dirt. :(

Last night I dreamt I was skiing down a mogul run without my skis. I can't explain it, it was just weird. The funny thing is I was doing pretty well -- much better than I normally do. Wonder what that means....

Have you been talking to Snowhot? :D

(I know you're new here, so I'll fill you in: Snowhot is our Gear Diva, and has a different ski for every occasion. Check her post in "Does The Diva Have A Quiver?". Plus she almost hooked me up with a pair of K2 Burnin' Luvs a little while ago.)

I sometimes dream that I am actually skiing, but more often, I dream that I am at the snow, but something or someone is holding me back, or preventing me from skiing, eg - I have forgotten an essential piece of equipment. I don't think you need to be an expert at dream analysis to work that one out!

Has anyone else experienced any similar dreams? And that feeling of frustration that something is stopping you from reaching where you want to be?

Shellski, I have ski dreams very similar to your. I will get to the slopes and be helping get everyone ready to ski (usually it's my kids, but sometimes it is just unknown people). When it's time for everyone to go ski I realize I don't have my boots, or ski pants, or sometimes my skis. In my dreams it is usually a very long trip back to get the missing equipment and it means I can't ski that day. I really hate this dream :( very frustrating.

Okay, last night I dreamed of Skiing too. Only my husband kept on insisting that we should ski as many resorts as we could in one day. He insisted we could ski 5 if we really tried.

Maybe you were going to do the "Utah Inteconnect" tour where you ski Park City, Snowbird, Alta, Solitude and Brighton in one day!

Last night before I went to sleep I visualized an entire run at my local ski area. Thought maybe that'd help me generate a ski dream.

No such luck.

I miss skiing.

It's gong to be a loooong summer.

Ha. I have skiing dreams often, but I rarely get to actually ski. The whole dream will be me riding up the chairlift, or getting ready in some other way, and then when it comes time to finally ski I wake up. Or I'll be skiing, but it won't feel quite right, something will be a little bit wrong... the snow is more like a carpet than snow, or I'm flying off the side of the run like it's a halfpipe. SUPER frustrating.

SkiDiva - its when you look at sand dunes and suddenly think - I could ski that!!. That's a long summer! By the way we have to purchase our season passes this weekend if we want the best deal (20% off, big deal!)

I had a ski dream at the beginning of the season last year. In my dream, I could only turn right. I had to be creative to avoid other skiers. It was a strange and frustrating dream!

I just found this on google:

Dream Interpretation Snow

"Snow is a symbol of a new life, good changes, coldness and frost. Walking on a crispy snow and seeing snowflakes fall means that positive changes and improvements are going to happen in your life. Seeing melting snow: you will solve a vital problem, or a problem will disappear by itself. If you dream of a snowman, it could reflect your coldness and indifference to the people around you, or it could mean that your partner is emotionally cold towards you. Being in a snowstorm: hard times are ahead, but you will get through."

Seems like dreaming of snow is a good thing! I hope to never be a Snow-woman, though! :D

I have skiing daydreams all the time....mainly I think of the sensation and the background is kind of vague..but there's definitely a sense of joy and freedom...of course everything flows perfectly!!

And Here's another:

Snow: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Snow

Snow

To see snow in your dreams, denotes that while you have no real misfortune, there will be the appearance of illness, and unsatisfactory enterprises.
To find yourself in a snow storm, denotes sorrow and disappointment in failure to enjoy some long-expected pleasure. There always follows more or less discouragement after this dream.
If you eat snow, you will fail to realize ideals.
To see dirty snow, foretells that your pride will be humbled, and you will seek reconciliation with some person whom you held in haughty contempt.
To see it melt, your fears will turn into joy.
To see large, white snowflakes falling while looking through a window, foretells that you will have an angry interview with your sweetheart, and the estrangement will be aggravated by financial depression.
To see snow-capped mountains in the distance, warns you that your longings and ambitions will bring no worthy advancement.
To see the sun shining through landscapes of snow, foretells that you will conquer adverse fortune and possess yourself of power.
For a young woman to dream of sleighing, she will find much opposition to her choice of a lover, and her conduct will cause her much ill-favor.
To dream of snowballing, denotes that you will have to struggle with dishonorable issues, and if your judgment is not well grounded, you will suffer defeat.
If snowbound or lost, there will be constant waves of ill luck breaking in upon you.

I like this one:

Skiing

To dream that you are skiing, suggests that you are pushing yourself and putting your mental and/or physical ability to the test. You are your own fiercest competitor.

OK maybe that helps interpret Sheena's dream of only turning one way. I was kinda wondering about how a dream analyst was going to take that one.
