Ski Diva gets new boots!

Yes, I thought this was worthy of a general announcement, especially since my old ones were five years old and my foot was slopping around in them like crazy.

Anyway, the skiing was slushy today, so I stopped at 11:30 and thought I'd do some looking. And you know where THAT can lead -- especially when the end of season sales are in place.

I hit two ski shops -- both with excellent reps for bootfitting: Basin Ski Shop in Killington, VT, and Northern Ski Works, also in Killington and Ludlow. I went to the first to try Heads and Salomons, and to the second to try Technicas and Dalbellos.

So what did I end up with? Nordica Speed Machines. Just goes to show: you have to have an open mind.

Why the Nordicas? They seemed to do it for me in all the right places. Of course, it's hard to tell for sure til I ski on them, but I'm hoping they'll ski good, too.

Can't wait to give them a try. I'm hoping to get out on them tomorrow -- right now it's raining, so it doesn't look too promising. Here's hoping for a snowy, snowy weekend!
 
This is the news I was hoping to read!

You have got an awesome boot there. For me the Nordica SM didn't work, but I understand its a high performance boot that is sure to give you that contact you've been missing with your old boots.

Hooray for SkiDiva! Gotta love new Boots!

This boot seems to have everything, even an adjustable cuff. Very glad you found something you like! Did you have the liner heat fitted?

Now then, assuming you saved lots of money with end-of-season prices, what are you goingn to do about SKIS????????
 
Did not get the heat fitted liner. Thought I could get that later on, if I changed my mind.

As for skis, I have a lot of demoing left to do. I may just leave that for next fall.
 
mmm... drool. they're pretty! :p

I'm still a bit away from my next pair of boots, but boy those look tempting...

Snowstorm forecast for the weekend, so shouldn't be long....
 
Great looking boots! I have Nordica Beast 12's and I love them. They were new last season, so I have a while to go before I get new boots. Be sure to post how they work out at Jay this weekend!
 
I've seen those, and they really ARE a pretty boot! AND a boot for ladies who rock! ;)

Looks like Burke and/or Jay are your first days to use them. How exciting! :D
 
It's stopped raining, so I think I'll head over and take a few runs to try them out.

Oh, OK, you just run out quickly and try out those boots and let us know what you think. Sheesh! I hate when people brag about what an easy thing it is to get to the nearest mountain and ski a few runs, and in the middle of the week too! :rolleyes: OK, OK, I got my jealousy in check...:D
 
Sheesh! Sorrrrrry!!!!

So I went over to the mountain because it had stopped raining. No sooner did I get there than the sky opened up and it began to absolutely pour! I thought, "I don't want to do this." Then I thought, "I have to do this. Because if I don't the Divas will say I wimped out." So I haul my skis, etc. in the pouring rain from the parking lot to the lodge, get geared up, and get on the chair. This chair takes you from the base station to a point where you have to get off and pick up another lift, which takes you to the top of the mountain, which incidentally, is totally socked in. I think, "Nuts to that. One run down the beginners slope. That'll have to do."

So that's all I did. Not really enough to evaluate the boots, but enough to tell me I had an arch problem that needed correcting.

Okay, so I'm a wimp. :o

Ended up going back to the ski shop, where they fixed it for me.

I think I'll need to actually ski on them more to post a real report.

It's stopped raining again, but I'm done for the day. :D

Hey, it's good that you got to discover the arch problem, so you could have it taken care of before this weekend. You did a good thing, giving in to peer pressure! ;)
 
Congrats on the new boots.

I almost got those. It was a choice between those and the Tecnica. $100 price difference got the Tecnicas home. I was also worried that the stiffness for the SM12 was a bit too much for my current ability - but they were nice on the feet. The adjustable cuff was just too cool, my big fat calf fell in love.
