  • California
    • Northstar: My first real skiing adventure! I went up for a trip with some coworkers in March of 2019 and was so hooked after two days (including a half-day lesson) that I got a season pass for the next year. I also did a couple days of lessons to kick off the 2019-2020 season. Favorite run here (so far) is probably Powder Bowl in the Mt. Pluto area, although I also really enjoyed Castle Peak on the backside.
    • Kirkwood: So much fun! I went with a few friends for a couple days this last season as well as one solo day. There's such a huge diversity of terrain, and I enjoyed everything from the backside (favorite: Happiness Is) to the front (Look Out Janek), and did my first-ever black run (Conestoga) there!
  • Wisconsin
    • Mt. La Crosse: I went here as a child with a church group! It's a tiny local mountain with just a few runs. I had a half-hour "lesson" in the evening and was then turned out onto the slopes for night skiing. I accidentally went off the main green trail, hit terrain I couldn't handle, and went tumbling. The bindings didn't release and I ended up in physical therapy for a couple months. I wasn't allowed to go back again, which made me sad, because up until that moment I was seriously enjoying myself.

I have no updates for last season. Was going to be able to add Loveland, but Covid took care of that.

Might be fun to do a listing of ski areas skied over a life-time. Sort of where we've left our tracks. Here's my list, as best as I can figure:

Vermont
Okemo, Stratton, Bromley, Killington, Sugarbush, Stowe, Smuggs, Mt Snow, Haystack, Hog Back (no longer there), Burke, Jay

MA
Jiminy Peak

NY
Bellayre, Greek Peak, Song (don't think it exists anymore)

NJ
The old Great Gorge and Vernon Valley ski areas, as well as Snow Bowl (I think the first two are now Mountain Creek, and I don't know if the third exists anymore)

PA
Blue, Elk, Jack Frost, Camelback, Doe (now Bear Creek), Spring Mount (a teeny tiny area down the road from me in PA)

CO
Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper, Vail, Beaver Creek, Aspen, Snowmass, Steamboat

UT
Park City, Deer Valley

And that's it. Of course, I'm more than willing to expand this list anytime.

Where've you been?

Wow, it's amazing how many places some of you have skied at  my list is tiny in comparison! Was hoping to grow it a little more this year with some of the smaller local ski areas, but due to snowfall issues, they haven't been able to open.

New Zealand:
Whakapapa
Turoa
Coronet Peak
Mt Hutt
Porters

Canada:
Whistler/Blackcomb

Wonder if there is a thread "How many years have you been skiing?"
