Know any popular songs you can tie to skiing?

For example:

"Slip Sliding Away," by Paul Simon
"Ain't no mountain high enough," by the Supremes.

Anyone have any others? :D

When driving to ski, which takes 2 to 3 hours, I often scan the radio for tunes that I can connect to my upcoming skiing in some way. The Rolling Stones work, any song really, because the aggression in everything they do works for the type of skiing I am doing. Short turns - fast songs. Long turns, - ballads.

Bach - no. Too too tame. Odd jazz - no. Too a-rhythmic. Hip-hop- OK, but only for the fastest turns, wedeln-style. BlueKGrass, no, not enough emphasis on rhythm, which is at the heart of good skiing. Puccini, well, maybe for certain arias. For long turns.

I can totally see that.

A lot of songs which make me think skiing are hip hop/broken beat instrumentals. I find a lot of instrumentals in that genre which flow the way it feels like I'm flowing when I ski (doesn't matter what it looks like, it's all about what if FEELS like I'm doing :D )

One of my favorites in that category is Herbie's dream by Radius.

A few of the other songs that get me thinking skiing-

Sleep, and Nietzche by The Dandy Warhols, High speed, and Spies by Coldplay, Shashkin by Omar Faruk Tekbilek, Something against you, and There goes my gun by Pixies, This velvet glove by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beautiful by Masta Ace, Eclipse by Pink Floyd.

Different ski days have different feels to them, but for me all of those songs have a certain "gliding" feel to me.

Don't forget 'Rocky Mountain Way' by Joe Walsh. We always have to listen to it on the drive to Colorado.
