She's Hooked!

Well, some of you may remember a couple of posts from a new member Jjsooner recently. She's a friend of mine from another bulletin board originally but we've met in person and keep in pretty close touch. Well, she was asked out to Utah for a ski trip this year and decided to go, and consult me for gear and tips for getting ready.

After much discussion she flew out yesterday and was scheduled to take her first lesson this morning. I just got a text message from her that simply states "Freaking awesome!". I can't wait to get the phone call from her to tell me about it but I think we've got another Ski Diva on our hands! Welcome Jennifer!

Time to use the phrase, "And another gone...." but THIS time in a GOOD way. I guess you'll know from the funny glaze-over expression. It's tell-tale!!

Update! Most recent text says she just did a green without falling. Oh yeah, she's got it bad!

Oh, boy. Jjsooner just called. She's sitting on a run at Snowbasin with a broken binding. She's laughing but it appears the toe piece just broke! A friend is going to the bottom for help and she's not hurt but geez, not cool. But, rather than call it quits as it stands she's going to head to the rental shop on the mountain to get another pair to get through the afternoon and then she'll head back to the place these are from to deal with that this evening. Oh, yeah, she did her first blue today!

Ow, not a good thing to happen in your first year, but at least its not slowing her down. That's the spirit!!

Well, she just called, fortunately the binding isn't broken the toe piece had apparently rotated and she thought it was broken but ski patrol helped her out and then offered her a ride down on the snow mobile since it was a fairly steep blue. She refused and made it down with only one more fall. And then wanted to go back and do the same run again. :D

Hi everyone! Checking in here...I had an awesome day! I love it!
Snowbasin was really good. There were a few runs that were great for me to practice my weaknesses (namely right turns) yet still be able to pick up a short blue for some more challenging runs.

If anyone has skiied there before-Willow Springs was the run that I thought I broke my binding on (and was very timid before and after that incident). I did it after lunch just to say I did without major incident (I had slid over 100 yards on my arse earlier to catch up w/ friend). I hope to go back next year and do it much better and be much more comfortable on it!

I had several comical moments that I'll share later. I'll also share pics after I get home later this week.

We are skiing Canyon on Wednesday and then I head to the airport late that afternoon.

Forgot to add that Robyn is awesome. I know she has to be a great coach for her kids. She has been giving me tips and pointers on the phone based on what I tell her I'm struggling with. She rocks!
