I purchased the Fischer Vision 70's and got the 152s like Skigirl suggested. I have skied them for about 5 days in typical Eastern ice, packed powder and a little fluffy powder. They seem a bit long (I am 5'1" and 130 lbs) and sometimes I have a difficult time moving them from one turn to the next. I LIKE them but am not in love with them. I don't regret buying them since they have gotten me through a few days without renting.

I did get a chance to demo some last week and fell in love with the Volkl Attiva Luna; my husband calls them my magic ski. I also demoed the Rossignol B2 (hated it) and the Volkl Attiva Tierra (a little stiff for me). Needless to say the Lunas really brought my skiing level up immediately and I bought them in a 149. It is my understanding that the Luna is this year's AC2. What can I expect from them during those icy days? Do I keep the Vi70 for those days? Or do I sell them? The Vi70 is not much longer than my Lunas so maybe it is not the length and their dimensions are almost identical so why the big difference in my skiing?

I love my Lunas and can't say enough about them. I am about a level 6 skier. I might have said level 4 or 5 before getting on the Luna.

Thanks!
Mel

Obviously because they are Volkls, the best!
But of course!

I haven't tried the Luna yet, but I would expect it to be stellar on ice as most all Volkls are.

There are many, many, many factors that determine how a ski behaves and why skis with the exact same dimension ski totally differently. Check this out if you haven't already: https://www.theskidiva.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2074

Oh yeah - sell them.

Thanks for the info! I guess I will be selling them. I really love my new skis. I never thought that I would feel this way about a pair of skis...my husband keeps yelling at me for staring at them. It is a love he will never understand!!! I found myself looking for steeper and more difficult terrain as soon as I realized what they did for me. I actually skiied my first black diamond!

Thanks for all of the great info on this website!

Sweeeet!!

Now you have what I call "Red Bull" skis....they give you wings. My Karmas are like that for me.

When you find THAT pair of skis, nothing else will do! I know very well the feeling of trying a new ski, and then never wanting to ride the old ones again. It is amazing what a change of equipment can do.

The Luna should be fine on ice/hardpack-- Volkls are famous for superb edge grip. I demo'd the AC3 last year, and it was terrific on hardpack. Even my Aura stays stable on the scratchy areas.

Oh yeah, and sell the old skis. It sounds like they overlap the Luna as far as terrain/skill level anyway.

Now you've just gotta find his soul mate ski so he can understand. Then you two could gaze lovingly at your perfect fit gear together!

Hi Melissa, I was given Rossingnol B2s for Christmas and taking them back. What was it you didn't like- I'm curious if my experience was similar. I was also looking at the Volkls and the Ficshers, so am curious for more details. Thanks!

I am new here - love this site! I am interested in the Luna skis as well but I am unsure about the length I might need. I am 5'2", 150 lbs and a pretty solid intermediate. My current skis are Rossignol Saphir 200 in a 154cm which need replacing after 3 seasons. Could you suggest the length of skis for the Luna? I have been told I should consider a shorter ski but I'm unsure about Volkl. Thanks for any info!

good questions! I was about to ask similar ones myself! I was just looking at some nifty Volkl deals on Ebay, and wondering, since the Tierras offered at the moment are 163 long, if that's tooooo long for me: I'm 5'4" which is around 162 cm. My weight's still up there a bit at 160 -- my goal is somewhere in the 130-140 range, so don't want to buy skis I won't have enough me to handle next season, y'know? I've been skiing on 153 K2's and when I've demod skis, that's the size that the dudes are recommending. I dunno if that's cuz it's what they know I'm used to, or if I just look like a 153-ish person!

After skiing the same old boards since 1976 (once or two days a year, at most), I finally broke down and rented high performance skis a few years ago (Atomic e:9). I was overwhelmed! Skiing was like dancing, and the skis were doing the singing (though I couldn't stop myself from yodeling a bit).

When I bought a pair, I kept them next to my bed, and gazed at them every night before going to sleep. I've had them for a few years now, but they're still singing, and I'm still yodeling!

Yeah, new skis are kind of like a basket of warm puppies.. ok, do I sound like the Yoplait commercial?? At any rate, I know what you mean. I just put an order in for Volkl Luna skis -- 149cm... got a notice they shipped today. Sure hope I can get them before this Saturday!:ski2:

Kano,

Have a look at my review for my AC3's (same as the Tierra just different graphics/naming system). I'm 5'3.5" 125-130lbs and had previously skiied exclusively K2s in 153 length. The 156 AC3s are exactly the same length as the 153 True Luvs! With the stiffness of the AC3s I'd think you may want the 156 length, but it's your choice. Feel free to ask any questions you have about them. I've been on them 4 days now!

There are nothing but rave reviews about the Fischer Visions, BUT........(heres the big But-t)
This is why we always encourage a demo list instead of a ski recommendation.
Every diva is different and everyone may like something different in a ski.
I love the feel and feedback from volkls.
Glad you found them to rock your world!!
