Seattle boot fitting

I am wondering if anyone has a favorite "boot fitter" salesperson or shop in the Seattle area. I haven't had very good luck at the few shops I have tried. Either the sales staff doesn't have any knowledge of what they are selling or I have been ignored. This is my year for new boots and I want to do it right and get a good fit. Thanks for any help you can give!

Is there a Surefoot around you? They are pretty good, from what I hear.

I had SureFit boots a few years ago. And although I was initiallly very pleased by the results, the chain gets a lot of mixed reviews. Many people say they're way too expensive. I don't know about that; maybe it depends on where you go or what you get.

I got my new boots at a local shop with a great reputation for bootfitting. A good resource is America's Best Bootfitters, an organization of independent ski and snowboard shops that specialize in boot fitting. Membership is granted only to shops whose boot fitting and customization work has demonstrated a high level of expertise and consistency over years. Take a look at the web site; maybe there's someone near you.

Try Gerk's Alpine Hut in Redmond—(425) 883-7544. Vinny has done good work on my boots, but most of their employees are well skilled at boot fitting.

My spouse tells me the guy is actually called "Venny." I always thought it was Vinny. Oh well, I guess it sounds the same. lol Anyway, give him and his shop a try.

Sturtevant's in Bellevue is where I got mine - they're very knowledgeable and helpful there. The sales guy convinced me to go with a more advanced boot than I'd been aiming for, which seems to be quite the opposite from the stories I've read on other threads.

Sturtevants also operates Ski Mart in Bellevue, offering discount/last year/demo/used ski gear, and the folks there are just as knowledgeable and helpful.
