Season's goals?

Well maybe we haven't made them yet.

But you've got a good idea.

For me, get my skiing up to the CSIA level 3 level. I'm not planning on the course this year. And I do have a lot of work to do.

Great idea for a thread.

1. Always always always continue to work on balance/control

2. Improve on skiing more "efficiently"

3. Seek out the "bad" snow

4. Get over unreasonable fears of going a bit faster

5. This should be #1.....keep having FUN!!

Good one...

- Ensure I retain the skills I learned last season
- Learn the basics of powder skiing, and be able to traverse it without looking like a fool
- In the park, be able to land a 180 jump
- Generally get more time on skis, improving my confidence and ability (on piste and off), and getting the most out of my new boots and skis
- Have a BLAST

- take AT LEAST one lesson (hopefully more)
- start hitting the (real) moguls & trees (hmmm, definately more than one lesson!)
- start learning Tele
- get comfortable with steeper terrain & more speed
- get more comfortable in icy conditions
- see what the skiings like at some other ski hills!

(hmmm, looks like a busy winter!)

Very good thread!

--learn how to properly ski these new fangled shaped skis... haha...
--become confident on skiing blues
--get my best friend from highschool to come skiing with me at least ONCE!
--help my niece get over her fear of being wiped out again by a snowboarder.

goals

After my knee injury at the beginning of last year, I am desperately wanting to play "catch-up" with my expectations. And play is just what I aim to do! I have purchased a skis in a shorter length so that I can work on technique and maneuverability. (Fischer Vision Breeze 145) I'll save the 152/153 skis for later or the right conditions. No more overthinking or self-criticizing
this year. (yeah, right...) Anyway, I just want to improve with lessons and relaxing my body. I guess the real goal is to leave the slopes with the same happy attitude I arrived with!

I'm looking forward to a very social season skiing with Divas, Bears, my family, and new friends. Saw a bunch of familiar faces up at my local mountain this morning which was nice.

And this year:

No injuries.

Lot of time on snow.

Ski more aggressively, with better balance, and faster.

Switch skiing, some (small) air & pipe.

Bumps, trees, powder, whenever snow is soft and plentiful enough.

Fun apres.

I'm usually not goal oriented in my passtime. So when I can't find a "season's goal" thread, I know one has got to be over-due.

That said, this season is different. 1) I had so much minor injuries (and one borderline "major") the last two season, I do need to make it a goal NOT to get injured. 2) Last year's ESA made a big difference in how I ski so I'm on a tear as far as technical improvement goes. So, here it is:

1) Finish the season without injury!!! But not by skiing conservatively, instead, ski correctly. Stay balanced!
2) I've been working on bumps for ages. But this season, I have a realistic chance of zipper-lining some. Starting from small, naturally.
3) Drop some cornices! :smile::smile::smile:
4) Get lucky and hit some bottomless powder!
5) Learn to carve.

I've finess time off for 3 trips out west this season. So if I can manage 1, there should be no problem achieving 2 and 3. And I'll be very happy. 4 is more a wish than goal. But if I don't get 4, I'll have a lot of time to work on 2 and 5.

Perhaps I should change the title of this thread to "Season's goal, season's hope?"

Like Jilly, I'd like to get my skiing up to (CSIA) Level 3 standards, but doubt that will happen. Today I attended a clinic put on by my ski school and we had the BEST instructor (Jilly, it was one of the Tremblant Gap instructors and I'm sure you know how good they are). All the people in my group were good skiers, so it wasn't a basic stance and balance lesson, but focused more on getting the feet (particularly the arch of the foot) to do most of the work. He based everything on that and presented it all so clearly and simply. So my goal as an instructor is to do the same with my classes: stick to the basics and keep it simple.

My goals for the season.

1. Improve my carving
2. Stay in the front seat
3. Don't let my 9 year old totally outski me
4. Get comfortable on ice
5. Enjoy my new skis
6. SKI, SKI, SKI!!!

My goals...

Like several others, I want to make it through the season without an activity limiting injury.

AND

- focus on driving with my hands

- speed up my foot work

Here is to lots of snow so our conditions will be fabulous :snow:

Mines pretty basic ...

1) improve carving
2) ditch that nasty stem turn on the steeps when i get scared

This is my third official ski season, and started it off right away with a lesson. I'm hoping a few lessons and lots of time on the snow (uh ice?) will really help.

A nice to have would be to not get scared of silly stuff ... but thats unlikely to happen

:eyebrows:I'm so jealous of some of you divas that are looking for 40+days of skiing. I'll be lucky to get 15, ugh. If only I could move my boat detailing business to utah, ahh, what a dream. unfortunately, winter is my busy season down here, snow birds flying in from the great white north trying to avoid the snow (they obviously do not ski)...oh right, goals for the season, thats the topic...

1. ski ski ski
2. powder powder powder
3. practice more boarding, so I might be able to keep up with bf within the next 5 years. really a 5 year plan, ugh!
4. enjoy new skis and boots this year, should really improve the powder skills. I hope...:eyebrows::ski2:

hello from sunny florida where it is 62 degrees, and I wish it were snowing, my new skis arive on wednesday, and yes I will be testing them out in the living room (already had the boots on last night)

Like others, my top goal is to remain injury-free all season. If that's the only goal I make, I'm ahead of last year.

Beyond that, I also want to be more comfortable on steep terrain, learn how to telemark, get out in the back country. If I make sufficient progress in these areas, I may try heli skiing before the end of the year. (Telluride has the only heli skiing operation in Colorado.)
