season passes

I just need to comment that it's just not fair to Weekend skiers. There is no weekend season pass, and no money saving deals. BOOO i say.

Well, since that is their busy time they actually would prefer you come during the week so I understand why they don't. You just need to move to Colorado where you can get multi mountain passes for under $500. :D

Stratton has a Sunday pass for $229 for the season. But that would probably be one heck of a drive for a single day!

DH wonders if I've mentioned it to the group -- I told him y'all would probably run me off the board for this one:

Bogus Basin, here in Boise: We paid $199 for unlimited skiing this winter (alpine and nordic, if we wanted to do that nordic stuff).

They do this special offer Presidents' Day weekend every year, so we gamble on living to use the pass the next season and order our season passes then!

They'll come in the mail any day now -- we can hardly wait!

tahoe season passes

wow, what a deal at bogus basin, too bad I live nowhere near Boise. But there are value passes that lets you ski Sierra/Northstar for $330 if you buy in the next half hour, a little more after. I think it's good on Sundays. Btw, anyone know of ski leases near northstar? thanks =)

I agree to BOOO for the folks who WORK and can only ski nights/ weekends!

I just scored and earlybird, group discount pass for Cypress mountain. 4-close 7 days a week for $386. That didn't seem too bad of a deal!

Nights are the key for me. They make the season pass worth it. That being said, you gotta live close enough to go during nights. Nights are the reason I get my pass at the smaller place that's an hour and a halfish away instead of the much larger, nicer 3 hours away place.

It's 3 hours to the closest place and that is still crap skiing.. so we are stuck w/weekends. But I guess the brighter side is that during the summer we are 10 minutes to the beach

I should mention that the much larger place I go to boasts 400' of vertical

It sucks that they don't offer a weekend pass. Is there a frequent skier card or something?

Skier I may be, I still wouldn't move away from the water. Ten minutes from the beach sounds good.

Prior to buying season passes, I would recommend how many times you would have to go to make them worth while. We figured out if we go more than 12 times in a season it is well worth it for us to spend the money on passes at our local mountain. Last year we went (I think) 24 times, so it was WELL worth the money for the passes! This will be our third season with them. We also can only ski on weekends, or the occasional evening, but the nights seem to be busier than the weekends around here due to school ski clubs and such. Last year we did take a couple of days off during the week (when school was out) and were able to go then too.

Just my opinion on season passes!

Well some ski area do offer discounts. At Tremblant there are 2 other ways beside a season pass. One is call T-66. These gives you 66 days of skiing for a price. Tremblant predetermines those 66 days. Almost no Saturdays and a few Sundays. Also they have a Bang card. This is a discount card. 5% off ticket pass on Saturday, 25% of Friday and Sunday and 40% the rest. I purchase this T-66 pass with the Bang card one season. So I ended up with a season cost of $680/for 28 days of skiing. You need 20 days period to justify a season pass. At $1100/season pass I did well that year.

So check with your local area. There could be another way!!

2010 Olympics

vmec, so lucky you get to ski cypress up in Vancouver for less than $400 for the season. Have they started prepping for the 2010 Winter Olympics there in Van? Tickets going on sale yet?

Tickets went on sale yesterday!

My understanding is that all venues are to be ready for events this winter. But maybe vmec and our other Diva's out there can tell us!

If anyone can ski 20+ times in one resort, I think most season pass work out well.

Those of us who expect to ski a totally of 20 days altogether wouldn't be buying a pass. Even though it may be more in the end, day pass does allow going where the snow is. (and I might add sometimes that "where" is a plane ride away)

At my local mountain Cypress they offer a pass that is 4pm-close (10) 7 nights a week costed me (early bird) $385. I'd only have to go 12 times to make it worth it! Last year we went twice a week!

Still though, sucks to have to work full-time and every weekday too; weekends are lame it's too busy.

I paid $399.00 for a season pass to Liberty/WhiteTail/RoundTop in PA. I would have to ski roughly 8 times for it to pay for itself and I ski mostly weekends.

Just wanted to add I cannot believe it's flippin' 80 degrees today.

I know, this is why I'm having a tough time figuring out what to do! I want to ski all the resorts out here, so it's not worth buying a pass at any one place. (The CO people have it so good with that universal pass!) So I'm looking for deals to ski at different places a handful of times. I just bought a 5 day pass for the Canyons for $200. Hopefully I'll be able to volunteer at Park City and at least ski there for free, and they give you a handful of passes to Canyons/Deer Valley. But for LCC/BCC I'll have to pay separately.

Season pass' tend to be somewhat inexpensive around here, with value deals on a regular basis. Some better than others:
Caberfae Peaks comes in with the best deals of the day.
99/unlimited weekend season pass, 99/unlimited week day season pass, 198/unlimited season pass, 149/Sunday only pass for Caberfae and Shanty Creek.

My passes are Crystal Mountain 229/unlimited Season pass, and A-basin Bonus pass, which includes 5 tix for Breck/Keystone, and one for Vail or Beavercreek.

The Best idea if you live around Michigan and want to do some resort hopping.............Michigan White Gold pass from MSIA
This pass is as described
Ski at 29 areas for just $189!
"White Gold Card" purchasers are entitled to ski one time at each of the 29 participating ski areas across the state during the 2008/2009 ski season for $189. Purchasers are also entitled to one free ski tune-up (edge sharpen and wax) at participating MSIA ski retailers

The absolute most ridiculous pass in Michigan is the Boyne Unlimited Pass $1,799/unlimited for all Boyne Resorts. Great if you're going to travel a lot but sucks if you want to hit the resorts close to home. $749/unlimited season pass for the two Michigan resorts.

We picked up a season pass for our grandson today -- he's four, it's free! All the skiing he wants to do (given that he can find someone to take him up the mountain!)

Our passes arrived in the mail this past week. I opened the envelope, took a quick phone-camera pic of DH's and sent it to his phone immediately. He kept the picture, and has been showing it off...

That's phenomenal! Around here, all kids pay. $15/lift ticket for kids. Though Mohawk has some sort of plan for some free skiing for 4th (or is it 5th?) graders.

We got our season passes to Sundown this year. A big ouch since we worked for them last year. $479+$47.90 tax. For a local hill that has 625ft vert. At least it's only 12 miles away. They did have a once a week pass for $199, but I was hoping that by having the full pass, it would be further incentive to get out there more, even if only for a few hours. It's so close by that there's no excuse not to... especially during my winter break from school.
