Salomon Scrambler vs. Rossignol Cut

I am looking at some used skis, but I can't find much information on them. I am an intermediate skier, but I am just coming back after not skiing for 8 years. I went skiing twice this season on my old Dynastars from the mid 1980s. I didn't do very well, but I did ok. I am 46, 5 feet tall, and weigh 115. Here are my choices:

Rossignol Cut 150cm
or
Salomon Scrambler 400 150cm

Both are used demo skis.

I will do most of my skiing on groomed slopes, easy and intermediate runs. Does anyone have an opinion as far as which ski would be a better choice for me?

Used demo's from some time ago, I fear. The Rossi are red colour right?? The "cut" would be 3 years old at least and could be 5 yrs - old technology. The Scrambler could be last years, blue in colour?? Both would be entry level skis. The scrambler is an all mountain. The cut more of a craving ski. Do they have anything newer in age???

The scrambler is blue and gray. The Rossi cut is yellow and black. They also have Salomon verse 500 available. I figure any of them must be better than my 20 year old straight skis. They are all used and "reconditioned".

Verse is the same age as the Scrambler. V=very, E=easy, R=recreational, S=skiing, E=experience. Again an entry level ski. You say you like groomed slopes up to blues. Any are better than your old Dyna-saur's but I think you might be limiting yourself with the age and type of these skis. All are more of a beginner ski, than an intermediate. Keep looking or demo if possible.

Firstmate, you say that these skis are used. I've got a feeling that they are a rental fleet - used. It's the numbers you quote after the name. These were used in rental fleets. If you bought the Scrambler at a ski shop it would have a single digit number like 4 or 6. Might be best to steer clear of them.

I thought rental fleet too, Jilly. The Rossi Cut is what I started on -- the skis that our hill uses for the ski school/rental program. My red ones sit in the garage now, unused for at least three seasons. We bought the rentals that the school provided when we started out, since we were outfitting four skiers at once and wanted to save a little money. I wouldn't call them horrid, but not exactly confidence inspiring either!

(daughter's are blue -- same year. we got them in '01)

I agree with Jilly-- keep looking for something else. My first pair of shaped skis were Rossi Cut's in blue. They are fine for learning or renting, but I outgrew them my first season (10 days).

Look for an intermediate level ski. There will be lots of deals this time of year!
