Oh - I am so dumb - I accidently put my woolly hat in the wash on 40 degrees C and now it is all tight & would fit an egg cup. Is there anything I can do or is it ruined forever :(

Unfortunately I don't think that you can get it back to normal size. I'll be interested to hear if someone else knows something different though. :(

The best thing you can do is donate it to a childrens center, school or day care. Know that some kid without a hat will be able to go outside and play in the winter.
Then go get yourself a new beanie!

Try this - soak your hat in cool not cold water with fabric softener. While wet, carefully stretch it out, keep this going till it's back to its original or close enough size. You may need to do this a few times, pin and allow to dry. Fabric softener softens the fibers and they can be stretched. Those of us who knit, know this trick!

Don't forget to take before and after photos .......... I'd love to see what magic you can do.

Ooh thanks Jilly - I shall give it a go! And if not, then some lucky small-headed child can have my favourite hat.

By the way, this is so the best chat site in the world isn't it, someone always has an answer to all your questions
