Ski Diva Extraordinaire
I had a chance to demo a pair of Roxy skis for free at Wachusett yesterday (2-25). It was a rather strange experience, and I came away with very little info, but here goes:
I am 5'7" and 160 pounds, aggressive skier but little experience in powder, because I ski mostly in the east and only get out west once a year.
Roxy had a free demo tent set up at the Wachusett base, so I thought I'd try a pair. There were two young women sitting in the tent, both very pleasant, but totally OUT THERE! They were snowboarders and knew nothing about the skis - and I mean nothing. They couldn't tell me what model I was demoing, what its dimensions were, or what conditions/type of skier it was best for. When it came time to adjust the binding, they told me to just "try it on" and if it fit, to "go for it". Anyway, it did fit, so I then filled out the "paperwork" without even being asked for a credit card or ID. I decided to chill out dude, go with the flow and take the skis for a spin.
Conditions were packed powder, groomed, and very little ice. I have to say I did have fun on these skis, and thought they might be what I'm looking for in a ski for soft snow/powder, although they might be a little narrow waisted for that.
When I got home, I went on the Roxy web site in my continuing quest to find out what the heck I'd been skiing on, but wouldn't you know, that particular ski wasn't anywhere to be found. I tried in vain to find it on other sites, all to no avail.
If anyone reading this can help me find out what ski this is, all I can tell you is the graphics are mostly orange with some pink in them, and they are not twin tips.
Don't you think it's weird to have people manning a demo tent who freely admit they know nothing about the products?
