I'm 5'3", 125 pounds, bored on blue runs but timid on steeper black runs. I was looking for new skis this year after skiing for years on Dynastar Intuitiv 68Ls (157 cm) that just didn't work for me; I never could get my weight over the tips and never had much fun with them. I think they were too long.
After buying the wrong skis first (sigh), I realized I shoulda demoed some. I ended up buying the Roxy Joyriders (154) after a day of testing them on icy, sometimes chunky hard pack in the Sierras. Here's why I love them:
Despite their fatness at the tips (126-74-105) and their all-mountain category, they have a carving sidecut, so I could make quick, short turns very easily--as easily as I could on Atomic Hot Minx 145's.
But I also could hold long turns easily, something I haven't been able to do well on previous skis. They are incredibly stable at speed, although I don't think I ski as fast as some of you. I experienced almost zero chatter on this icy, crunchy day.
They are also very fast, and even though I started every blue or black run by saying, "I'm going to go slow and test the skis," I ended up letting them run way faster than I usually go and praying.... I have never been on skis this advanced and never skied this fast, but I felt perfectly balanced and secure.
Also, it's easy to get them on edge and keep them there.
They're also surprisingly forgiving of minor balance mistakes.
In short, they seem like the perfect ski for someone like me, an advanced intermediate who wants to improve. I thought I would choose the 146, but after demoing the 154 and loving them the whole day, I went for the 154s. I'm told their fatness will help me in powder, but I don't know when I'll see powder next....
By the way, several people in the lift lines commented on how pretty tke skis were. Actually, I was kind of hoping for skis that looked like Atomic Sugar Mamas or Volkl Attiva Fuegos instead of perfumed stationery....

I would probably have to ski them for a week to see if it could be love.
When you pressure tail through the finish of the turn, they don't squirt out on you! I like that kind of grip. Alot of chick skis that I've tried from Rossi and others tend to twist off, that is a pet peeve of mine.:( ) Try a little more tip pressure if they get chattery on you. They really seem to prefer ball to arch initiation more so that than totally neutral on the arch. I was very impressed with this ski! Loved both, long hauling turns and quick snappy rebounding turns right down the falline. Also the tails were not overly abusive in the bumps I tend to like the zipper line. I know thats really bad for your knees and hips but that why motrin 800's come in persciption form! Lol! All and all a very nice ski!
