Well I finally got to try out my new skiis at Smithers, BC for two full incredible days of skiing. I was really taking it easy until the Ptarmigan run. Wow, these skiis really surprized me. Wide turns are like sailing, and at higher speeds, they gain control (not me ha ha). The flex was nice following my son over little jumps, but I was floundering in the bumpy side trails through the trees. The skiis seem long in the back, so I am not getting my short turns accurate. They also pick up speed quickly, so when you are four feet from a tree in 3 foot powder... well- I was stuck for a while. I had to grip the tree trunks to dig myself out. All in all I am thrilled with my skiis. The conditions were groomed to hardpack, to icy in the afternoon, with crud, powder and everything but slush. Hudson's Bay mountain has something for everyone, and a great new terrain park. The runs seem longer than Jasper's Marmot Basin, and it was not busy at all. Worth the trip. Can't wait for spring skiing in Jasper next month.
