Question: Rossi Attraxion VI vs K2 One Luv

TravelRN

Diva in Training
I am a relatively new skier, started in Jan of 08. I am looking to purchase my first pair of skies, and Im pretty excited about it. Im 5 ft nothing and 115 lbs, I rented a pair of Rossi Attraxion VI 146 and really liked them. I have had a few friends recommend the K2 One Luv's as well, which I know I wont be able to try out...but the size jumps from 142 to 149, and Im not sure 149 would be too big and 142 too small. Im torn.

I can handle any blue...with confidence is another story. Im just starting to feel comfortable with a little bit of speed, but I definitely want something with good control. I m looking for a ski that I can grow into but at the same time will enjoy....as this season will probably be the only season I will be skiing regularly. Im a travel nurse from Florida, currently on assignment in Washington State. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you already have tried the Rossi and like it, I'd go with that rather than buy something you've never tried and risk hating it.

At your height, weight and experience level I'd suggest (wait for it, those that know me will be shocked).............stay with the shorter lengths, rather than the 149, for now. You're not married to the skis and can sell them after you've tried other ones or they're "just not doing it for you anymore".

I like my Rossi Attraxion V (which is essentially the same as the VI, they just changed the numbering). I hated the K2 Luv series when I demoed them on the same day I demoed the Rossi. Now, I'm much more experienced than you are but my guess is that since you like the feel of the Rossi's you might not like the feel of the K2 and why risk it since you know you like the Rossi's?

I am 5ft1.5" and the same weight as you and find my Rossi Attraxions in 146 to be just right.
Admittedly, since discovering this forum there is now a distinct possibility they will not remain my only skis.

Jillian, that made me smile! I did the same thing when I joined. My mid-fat Head Sweet Fats are going with me to the mountains this weekend. The Rossi's will have to wait until the next icy/no snow day.

I don't know anything about K2 skis, but I do ski Rossi. I tried the Attraxion 6 last year and found it a slightly bit stiffer than the V. The side cut is the same as my Z5's (the unisex version - stiffer still). I go along with the rest - you tried it, you liked it, buy it!

I'm skiing on new Attraxion 6 (in 146) this year and am liking them (though I do find them heavy to carry - but maybe all skis are). One thing, however, to note about the One Luv is that a 142 will actually measure closer to 145 or so (due to the way K2 gives the length of their skis).

I bought my Attraxion Vs last year and far prefer them to my previous K2s. I'm absolutely loving them - they give me so much more confidence and speed. I have just seen the new Attraxion VIs in a store today at what looks to be an incredible bargain price - £250 (about $350 in your money). I am very tempted to buy them but wonder if anyone can tell me how different (if at all) they are from my lovely Vs?

I demo'd the 6 last year and found it just a tad stiffer than the V. No changes in the 6 for 2010.

Thanks - couldn't resist a bargain so I've just been back to the store and I'm now the proud owner of some Attraxion VIs. Very excited! Can't wait to get out there and try them!
