Romanian Ski Collision!

Ummmmm...it was definitely a cringe for me. Mainly because I had one like that a few years ago - not at those speeds, but the outcome was about the same. I released and rolled, but the snowboarder, of course, didn't release - and fared worse than I (he was the one who clipped me). Took him awhile longer to get up. All witnessed by a visiting UK tourist, who ran up to me and yelled, "ARE YOU OK????" I replied that, yes, I think so, and hearing quite well, thanks. He must have thought I was TKO.

As to the pole whack posture, anyone ever truly wanted to???
Sometimes.... ....

Ugh, this just reminded me of a near miss I had this weekend (maybe I blocked it for self protection). I was coming around into Copper Bowl on Otto Bahn when someone who had been stopped above the track on a run just started skiing and went across the track without ever looking to see who was coming. He missed my skis by about 6 inches. I yelled "Geez" and he said "Oh, sorry."

Earlier in the day DBF had remarked that he hadn't seen a lot of patrollers, people must be getting hurt somewhere. Next run we came around a curve and there they all were. Treating what looked to be 2 people, likely a collision.

The failure to look uphill syndrome is big and growing. Wow, Robyn, glad it was an "almost!!" It's off the charts here, especially at crowded places like Sunday River.

Fortunately, the quieter time of season is upcoming (not so much for CO yet, but soon??).

As a victim of this collision nonsense, 3 times, the third time putting me out of commission, I'm discouraged. VERY discouraged. Rehab is hard, I'm hurting, and it was all due to someone else being stupid and careless. :(

Maine Ski Lady,

Yes, I had to 'retrain' a couple of 7 and 8 years olds at Tremblant last weekend when they cut right in front of me because they failed to look uphill before taking off. Where are their parents ?? I would have felt terrible if I'd run into them......after all, I'm a heck of a lot bigger than they are...

I hope you're doing OK and on the mend.....

^^^^ Thanks, I'm back on skis, sprains resolved. But tomorrow comes the "fear factor:" I'm going to the resort I love to dread on weekends for this very reason----but this is for the happy purpose of a diva hook-up  Mileage and vertical completely secondary to the fun factor!
