Hi ladies,
I know it's early to think about next season, but I'm looking for recommendations for resort(s) to consider for next year, before season pass or multi-packs are no longer available.
We are:
Husband and wife - black(ish) skiiers that used to be solid double black skiiers before we had kids. Like steeps, bumps. Not tight trees, narrow chutes or cornices.
5 year old (6 in September) girl that has completed 4 lessons at Loveland this year but didn't progress beyond the magic carpet
2 year old (3 in October) girl that probably will still nap in the winter and therefore needs child care
Our needs:
Ski area not too far from Denver/Boulder (Summit county?) that has good black terrain but won't take us 4+++ hours to drive there
Child care for our preschooler
Good lessons and beginner terrain for our eldest
Not going to cost us an arm and a leg for either passes or lessons
Last year we did Loveland 4-Paks for the adults and the 4-5YO lessons for our 5 year old. She had a great time but didn't progress at the rate that I thought she was capable of. She ended up in the "learn to turn" lessons 3 sessions in a row, and her instructors didn't have a lot of feedback for us. We were not amazed at their program but we weren't prepared to teach skiing to our daughter this last year - might be willing to do so this coming season if lift tickets aren't super expensive. We know that cheap(er) grade school passes are available for kids 6+ but aren't sure which hills offer them. We're probably not ready for season passes, so something that's got a 4-Pak or similar would be appreciated.
Does anyone have any recommendations, or know of any forums that list ski resorts that have lesson or lift ticket deals for kids? Any help is appreciated!
