Rep sale coming

Every year friends in the industry sell off their samples to thier friends. I've been invited to the Oakley, Helly Hansen, Nordica and Drop sale the end of the month. Most of the clothing samples don't fit. Ladies stuff is too small, men's stuff too big for DH. Last year I did pick up a pair of Drop gloves - fashion piece, Oakley purse and Oakley hat. I passed on a pair of Victory's. I'm thinking though if they have a pair of Conquer's should I?? I'm working on that quiver and thought I should get a head start. I've the groomer ski, but I need an all mountain ski.

Jilly, the Conquer is a really nice ski. If you can get that at a good price and in the size you want, I'd say go for it.

Last year the Victory's, slightly used by the rep's wife (3X) went for $400. And there was a new pair too for more. The wife's pair were too long if I remember. It's first come, first serve and CASH!!

Update. Had an email from the Nordica rep and he has both the Firefox (not avialable in Canada till 09) and the Conquer. Now I'm already on a craver, so I'm thinking if the Conquer is the right price should I jump on it. Anybody besides dirtdiva been on these?

We demoed a variety of the nordica women's line during the demo at the beginning of the season and all the girls at the shop liked what they skied on. I cant remember which I was on, i think it was the Fire Fox and it skied excellent although not my style, too much of a carver for me but still an excellent ski. The conquerer was a big hit too so I think that is a safe bet.

I'm leaning towards it. I've a new carver on order, sort of at the local shop, that doesn't do Nordica. So, I'm thinking about leaving the Firefox, but if the deal is good??????

Jilly the Conquer's would be fun to ski on if you made it to the Diva summit "09". Just making a justification of purchase point there. Not that a Diva ever needs to justify purchasing new equipment. Besides you are a ski instructor! There is never a shortage of new 1st year instructors to sell your last years equipment to, (that is once they realize that their new Volkl WC Racetigers aren't exactly the optimal ski to teach novice skier's a wedge turn on). In the event you find that these ( Conquers) are not worthy of your quiver, you won't have a hard time finding someone to take them off of your hands or feet as the case may be. Lol! Part with the cash girlfriend, and you'll have the whole summer to fantasize about those big luscious turns you'll be making on those puppies!

perma-grin, that's exactly what they are for - Colorado baby. As for the Firefox, if the price is right I just might pick them up too as I know of someone who could use them.

So I bought the Conquer's. I'm looking at these and the picture online and they are not the same. So I think I got next years ski. There is a bar code - cheat sheet on the back of the ski and in very small print is 009 at the end of the bar code. Also the bindings don't say SEX!! And the winged Victory is gone from the front of the ski. He had the Firefox for the same price. But my budget was for only one. We talked about it, and I mentioned that the shop had another make on order for and we decided that the difference might not warrant another pair of skis.
Sample sales are a great way to buy stuff. The problem is the sizes are usually small. All the Oakley stuff was size 6. Well my friend bought about $300.00 worth of stuff for $125.00. Example - Rash guard - Oakley $25.00. Some of the Helly Hansen stuff might have fit me, but the colours. I don't look good in Coral. So I got the skis, a face mask (Gordini) and an Oakley purse which must be next winters line. We also hit MEC (REI) and I returned some water bottles with that bad plastic. They are taking them back if they were the MEC brand.
So all in all a good girl trip!!

Waiting for my local shop to do its official "we're moving" sale (Ski Depot) - even though they are only moving about 1,000 feet, they should be selling everything at more than 50% off. They are currently building a BIG addition on the back of the new building, so we are patiently waiting for the official sale.

Glad I checked out this thread... I didn't know they were moving. Will have to notify my male counterpart who is sulking that he waited too long and missed out on many good deals for next season..... let me know if you hear anything!
