I couldn't have asked for a nicer day!
Got there just as the lifts started turning, summit in the clouds, but clouds moving all over the place - into the valley by 9:30. Due to high winds on Monday, the east side hadn't opened at all, meaning that there were at least half a dozen untouched runs with several inches of snow. Haulback was a ballroom!
Finally made it up to the summit via Timberline chair, first time this year, and took the cross-cut over to Upper Gondi Line - absolutely wonderful
- and for those of you who know Sugarloaf, the old mid-station from the old gondola was torn down last summer, making one's sense of orientation on that run a little strange! (It was an eyesore/landmark for those skiing the run.)
Told 2 nice ladies about this site, hope they log on and have a look around. Also met a lovely couple from my general region - people who are game for weekdays --
Last Sunday's woes are now happily forgotten. Alas, we have some less than wonderful weather moving through starting tonight - hopefully, it will be a fast-moving system and not rain too much on the parade (or ice it over). I greatly fear, which is why I took the opportunity to get out there on a sunny, warm (!! 30 at summit!!) morning and purge away the demons of a less than great day last weekend.
Sugarloaf is one fine mountain :D
That is all.
