Real Estate Pt. II

whew, it's almost over. We had an offer 2 weeks ago which we have negotiated to an acceptable place for all involved. Barring any problems with today's home inspection (I doubt there will be anything) we will close on 5/14.

So, that being said, yesterday we high-tailed it up to NH to look for a place to live. House, condo, apartment, duplex, whatever works. I took down names and numbers from Craigslist and had an assortment of places to look at, all in Laconia.

There was one more I was hoping to hear from as we were driving up. It had been too late to call the agent the night before so we headed up hoping we could make that the last one of the day. The first one was a condo, kind of shabby, but could have worked because the price was right. The next place was a duplex where the kid who bought it has done a lot of really nice things. It's quite beautiful, but nothing can over come the noise from the busy street that it's on. The next house was just a few door down and positively gross. It's the owner's childhood home and apparently he doesn't see anything wrong with it, including how long that smoke stays in every thing in the house.

Anyhow the last duplex we look at is perfect, and it's ours. Out the back window is an amazing view of Gunstock Mountain, yes, the mountain I swore I'd never ski at again! And there it is ten minutes out my front door.

Well apparently the owners swore they would not have dogs but then they met Zoey and changed their mind  Dad is a former Marine, as are Mike and I and that's all it took. No contract, no credit check. Marines don't screw each other

So anyhow, it's a cute 2 bedroom condo looking out over a ski slope I swore I'd never ski again LOL :loco:

well, the condo is ours n 5/1 so I guess that next weekend we'll start moving things up. Just keep the bare basics here until closing day. Or we could just move it all and have Matt stay with grandparents for the last 2 weeks of school.

Mike has every other weekend off, which happens to be the first weekend of May. That means we have to get most of it done then because he won't be around to help the next weekend,

So here's the upcoming schedule:
May 3 - 5, move stuff to NH
May 6, Matt's 18th birthday
May 14, closing day, have Matt stay with grandparents
May 29, last day of school for Matt
May 30 Prom night
June 6 (TX) Grandma arrives for graduation
June 7, Matt's graduation

yeah...I'm gonna be busy!

Wow! Sounds hectic. Congratulations on both the buyer and the condo. How long do you think that swear about never skiing Gunstock will hold up? :p

it's out the window on opening day LOL The guy in the unit next to us is the owners' son, about our age, and works at Gunstock. He said he'd introduce me to the people I need to know to work on the snow next winter :snow:

Why did you swear you'd never ski there again? And why even look out houses next to an area you swore you'd never ski again? Must be other houses near places you like?

well, work is going to require that I be in that area. That's pretty much the only reason for going there. Where we are now I'm a good 3 hours from any skiing, so bad skiing is better than NO skiing. So I can go there for a few runs when I want something close, and drive an hour or less to go somewhere else.

People have told me to give it another chance and it looks like I'm going to do just that. It's all good! :ski2:

SO glad to hear this has finally materialized for you!!!! :yahoo:
WHAT a schedule-----I'm getting tired just READING it. But given the amount of time you've waited to make it happen, I'm sure you're ready, willing and able.

When is your first deep breath scheduled: mid-June???

probably more like mid September as we plan on starting our business immediately if not sooner. Summer will be a 24/7 deal and I'm hoping fall and winter will be steady but much less busy.

I'll post a link to our website as soon as I get it up and running, early May.

I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!
