Preventing sunburn from the inside out.

Did you know that certain foods can help prevent sunburn?

Recent studies show that foods containing lycopene, found in tomatoes, and beta carotene, found in carrots, may actually diminish the skin's sensitivity to ultraviolet light. In a German study, participants who ate 1 tablespoon of tomato paste for 10 weeks were 40% less sunburned than a control group.

I knew there was a good reason to eat pizza!

Thanks for sharing this.
I looked up some information about this, and found out that I eat most of the stuff that helps. No wonder I rarely burn.

I'm not someone who gets really brown, but I do tend to tan more than burn.
I always thought it was my Swedish heritage that helped me tan, but maybe its the food I eat.

Well a recent study with mice has shown that a combination of exercise and caffeine intake can increase the body's ability to eliminate precancerous skin cells by something nuts like 400%. Exercise alone and caffeine alone each increased the elimination by like 100% over a control group, but when combined the effect was huge... so keep having some coffee and exercising!

Just stay out of the sun!! Seriously, skin cancer aside (although that alone is a good enough reason), it is so terribly aging, I have fair freckly skin, and although I have studiously avoided sun exposure for the last few years, every sunburn I ever had is starting to really show up now. I just think of all the money I could be saving on IPL treatment and face creams to try to get rid of blotchy brown spots.
