Powderfish Neck Gaiter

After years of wearing neck gaiters but suffering thru bad smells, mushy breath, wind-burned face, and simply being cold, I happened upon the Powderfish Neck Gaiter about a year ago. I tell you, these are spectacular at keeping your face warm, lips intact, and yet allowing you to breathe comfortably. It doesn't matter if it's a warm or sub-zero day, I don't leave the lodge without it. On the few occasions I've gone back to one of my old gaiters, which are actually quite nice, I've been quite dissatisfied and impatient to get back to my Powderfish. My two nieces are just getting in to skiing, and I plan to get each of them one, in colors bands to match their outfits, and take the opportunity to get another one for myself to wear when the original one is in the wash. They're made of Polartec Windbloc-ACT and lined with Polartec Power Dry and well worth the $22 MSRP. You can get more info @ powderfish.com.

I've seen these at Outdoor Divas and wondered if they were worth the price, thank you for the review. I always have 3-4 gaiters in my pack on coaching days (how does a parent let their child on the mountain on a zero degree day without a gaiter?) to use for spares. But, I'd like to have one that isn't a full balaclava that's mine and I'm not giving to kids for the day.

ETA: Just saw that they are a Colorado based company, even more reason for me to support them!

I second QQ's recommendation! I bought one before this season, and I wouldn't be without it! It's unseasonably cold much of this season here in Colorado, and this is the only gaiter I'll wear.

QQ, thank you, I'm planning on a trip to Outdoor Divas tomorrow. I hope they still have some left.

The best thing about their website is a great looking cookie recipe for cranberry-walnut oatmeal cookies[/URL].
Call me strange, but the thought of that cookie recipe makes my stomach squirm! I cannot stand the thought of eating "adulterated fruit" (any fruit that's been mashed, steamed, baked, dried, or otherwise changed from its natural state) and I hate coconut (unless it's in its natural state)!!! If you make these cookies, please don't offer any to me, or you might see my face turn green!

This sounds great, so I checked online to see where available - naturally, zip in my region...BUT Sahalie online still has them in stock.

I disagree; If you make these cookies, can you please send some to NJ??

I don't know, I'm pretty attached to the ones my Mommy made for us:

I actually just spoke with Powderfish's owner. Seems they're completely out of stock!!! HOWEVER -- you may be able to find some at Outdoordivas.com or at Sahalie.com
Holysmokes! Shoot, maybe I better head up to Outdoor Divas tonight. I know they had some when I was in a couple weeks ago.

ETA: I just called Outdoor Divas and they are holding one for me. They also invited me to stay for their wax and wine event. Oh, darn, they're giving me wine, guess I'll have to stay!

I stopped at Divas today and picked up one. They had maybe 7-8? left.

A couple of weeks ago Divas put on a wine and wax for Women's Wed. It was very informative and now I only let Divas tune my skis.

I'm going to Winter Park tomorrow and will give a report on how I like gaiter.

I'm planning on ordering one too - I just can't decide which color to get.

If anyone is ordering from salhalie.com, I found a code for free shipping on a $49 or more order. It's 12427 and expires 2/29.

Now I have my gaiter, went to the wine and wax event and one a tin of their universal wax to boot. All in all a good night! I also talked up the site here so hopefully some will join us.

If anyone finds one in 'Mandarin' or 'Butter' (both discontinued colors) would you let me know? Both of these colors are better with my ski jackets than my current color, and I can 'will' my current one to DH if I get the color I really want. TIA.

Okay, this stellar of a recommendation warranted an order by me. Just ordered mine from sahalie.
