Where and when do Powder Rulz apply?

Lets play out a few scenarios.

The Ski Sport Business Owner
You would like to do business with someone who owns a ski related business, but you get a machine message that says(Or a sign on the door), "Sorry, the snow is good and I had to play. I'll return the call when I get back from having fun"
Do you grin, because you understand and come back later, knowing you're going to be doing business with someone who is as passionate about it as you are?

The Ski Sport Business Owner Flip side

You own a ski related business, and the skiing is amazing. Do you keep the doors open in the hopes of getting a few customers or assume they are all out on the slopes so you may as well hit the slopes, too?
A sign on the door and a message on the machine will be suficient for understanding customers, right?

The Employer
You have a boss who skis, but he leaves you at work so he can play.
Does it chap you off, or do you grin and bear it because you hope your turn is coming?

The Employee
You have a hard working employee who call in for White Flu.
Do you understand or do you draw the line?

Friends
You have long awaited plans with friends, but the snow is awesome.
Do you ditch the plans for skiing?
Will they understand?

Friends Flip side
Same situation but you stick to the plans but one or more of your friends ditch for skiing.
Do you understand?
Do you plan revenge?

Family
Same situations as friends listed above

Grin & bear it...my turn IS coming!

Ahh, I'm a "little miffed" cuz I wanted to go, but MY TURN IS COMING! Plus if I'm the boss, I'll just close up and go anyway!

The wouldn't be my friends if they didn't

Revenge is a wasted emotion. I absolutely understand.

Grin, I love seeing people get as geeked about the snow as I am. Them being closed on a powder day is the kind of thing that would be frustrating if they had something I needed to get out on the hill, but it's a powder day- I'm sure I'd find a solution.

I imagine I'd give employees a choice of working or playing. If it's hard to get anyone to stick around, throw in a bonus for volunteers. Best of both worlds for me, right?

The Employer

I'd be thrilled to have a skiing boss, and appeal to her better nature by offering to carpool and cover gas. If that fails, I'd grin and bear it and try to get a snow day policy put in place for the future.

The Employee

If they're responsible and don't just screw me over when I really need them at work, why not. Honesty is the best policy, right?

Depends. If the snow is awesome and the plans are minor, that's what friends are for, right? If the plans are something more substantial or important, the snow will have to wait.

Friends Flip side

Never gonna happen. If my friend displays interest in skiing, and I'm not thoroughly committed elsewhere, I'm so there.

Based on relevance of plans. If we're supposed to sit around drinking tea, I'll meet them later. Something important, I'd be a responsible num. For the second question, if there's snow and they wanna ski, we'd just reroute the plans

If it's a big pow day you should have watched the weather so you were prepared and wouldn't need to go to the ski shop.

I ski with both of my bosses.

My plans with friends would already be to ski the pow.
