Potential ACL Injury??

The reconstruction I opted for was contralateral; in other words, they took a patellar tendon graft from my healthy knee in order to fix my ACL knee.
That is an interesting approach with your 1st ACL tear. A friend of my daughter's, a fellow college soccer player, went the contra route; this was the best option for her because it was her 2nd tear on the same knee. Since you cannot harvest from the same patellar tendon twice she opted for the contra route for the 2nd reconstruction rather than doing hamstring. My daughter (your age), used the patellar tendon on the injured knee, so I am very curious why that method was recommended to you.

Best of luck with your continued recovery! A high quality PT that makes sure those glutes and hamstrings are super strong is your ticket to a solid recovery. Slow and steady.
