pneumonia scare?

My bf is just getting over pneumonia. I'm not sure whether he had viral or bacterial pneumonia, but I didn't want to get sick so I didn't see him at all until he had mostly recovered (yes, I'm heartless). He still had a cough but was over the fever - but now I've got a cough. I don't want to get pneumonia! Yikes...

Cross your fingers for me that this is just a cold!

Oh, hope he feels better soon. Many pneumonias are not contagious. My husband, and many patients of mine have had pneumonias and being around them, I have never gotten it. Often, it is a secondary infection, from stuff not cleared from the lungs like with bronchitis or a bad cold or influenza. If he had a high fever (>101.5ish) it was possibly bacterial, which calls for antibiotics. My husband takes mucinex now when he gets a cough or a little bronchitis flare and it helps clear his lungs of junk. Wash your hands alot and drink lots of fluids....

Thanks - he did have a very high fever, up to 103. He did have to take antibiotics.

I am going to take it easy for a few days (it's hard because I really want to go have a workout!) and hope that this is just a cold.
