Please help this newbie... K2 Sweet Luv or Salomon Crystal?

I simply cannot make this decision!

I really, really wanted the Salomon Siam 5, but they are impossible to find in 154cm. Why did Salomon stop making them?? Why??!!

I would say I'm an advanced beginner—I'm stable, but cautious, even on easier runs. I ski in the northeast and often encounter icy conditions. I'm looking for something light, easy to turn and stable—but something that I can keep for a few years, even when I become a true intermediate.

After much time and research, I've narrowed my choice to the K2 Sweet Luv or the Salomon Crystal and now I'm stuck. Is either one better/worse on ice? Anyone have any advice?

**I know the best thing to do is demo the skiis, but that is not an option for me at the moment and I'm looking to make this decision in the next day or so.**

I don't think they stopped making them, I think they just changed the name. (Why companies do that is beyond me!)

I think Jilly posted something on this earier in the season. I'll do a search and repost. Or Jilly can just let you know when she logs on.

Sorry MGNY, all I found is that the old Siam 10's are now the Origins.

But I did find that the Crystal is very close to the old Siam 5's, so if you really wanted the Siam 5's, I'd lean you toward the Crystals.

Have you considered the True Luvs as opposed to the Sweet Luvs? It seems to me that the True Luvs would work as well for you now but have more staying power as you advance, while the Sweet Luvs would be more easily outgrown.

Siam 5 was replaced this year and I think its the Crystal. (Next year that rep is giving me literature to keep for just this kind of question). I can call the store in the morning and check for you.

Thank you so much! I'd love to know if the Crystal is the new Siam 5 (though the Crystal graphic is no Siam, I'll tell ya that!) I so appreciate your help. I'm itching to get these skis and have a few more outings before winter's end.
