Pico Limits Operating Days.

Attention Killington watchers -- Pico Mountain, which is part of the Killington Resort, will only operate Thursdays through Mondays for the '07-08 season (with the exception of Christmas and Presidents' Day weeks). So to everyone who's been wondering about the changes that were going to come with the Powdr aquisition, this is a biggie.

Hope it's not the beginning of the end!

Bummer!

I like Pico. Though I'm afraid I'm one of those customer who only ski either Friady, Saturuday or Monday, in conjuction with skiing somewhere else during a typical ski weekend. So, in pratice, it doesn't affect me negatively. Though no one likes to see a struggling resort only partially opens.

What are they going to do if there's a dump Monday night?

Another question -- what about passholders? They're only going to give them 50% off the window ticket rate at Killington on the days they're closed. Seems to me that they should comp them entirely.

Interesting. The Powdr-haters are going to jump all over this. It really does seem like their focus is not on the skiing, though. The next 2 or 3 years will be really interesting.

Saw this video on alpinezone that compares May 1997 vs. May 2007 conditions at K (warning: corny music):

I have to admit, it would be pretty great to have K owned by a company that was committed to laying down enough snow to have conditions like that in late May.
