I was legitimately afraid I might have frostbite on my face at the time I took this photo because the hike to get up there was so cold, but this was a nice moment. Upper East Wall not really worth the walk today in terms of how things were skiing but you can't win 'em all.

You put in solar panels? Great use of space!! And they don't block your view at all!

Early season - the good-looking part of Mt Hutt, June 16th! Minimal snow cover, rain, and warm temps meant they closed today to protect the snowpack. They're only juuuuust open with the help of the snow guns and it mostly looks like broken oreos scattered on a cookies-and-cream icecream sundae with all the rocks and lumpy bits of snow.IMG_20230616_093636.jpg

Yay! Keep the photos coming! I’m feeling starved of skiing in the northern hemisphere!

Hubby went on opening day, said it was ok and managed to score some nice pockets but his ski's had a wee holiday at Gnomes to get fixed up afterwards :laughter:

I got the on-hill shop to do my edges, but thankfully I didn't get any core gouges or scratches that touched the edge at all so have left them for now. I stopped by Gnomes as well, and left with a new ptex stick and a booster strap on my boots.

When is it staying open until?
It went to Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays in June, and then will be open July 1,2,3, and 4. Alpine hasn’t been open this late in a while. It’s been Palisades/Olympic Valley for the last few seasons because its Upper Mountain holds snow better and you don’t need snow at the base to load the Funitel. But, the haul rope on the Funitel is being replaced this summer, and it was scheduled 3 years ago. So, Alterra is striving to keep AM open. It’s a little boring, as far as open terrain goes, tbh.
