Too steep. lol . Do they really do that?

Jackson has that reputation but it seems quite accommodating for intermediates, even at a lower level.

They have dynamited away rollers to make blue runs more evenly steep. It was a joke and not even their publication. Still, the focus on family friendly had been a very real marketing campaign for a while. For some the blues seem steep when they first transition to them or ski them.

Wouldn’t the rollers give the skiers a little “ break” from a straight downhill to stop and assess their next section if they felt intimidated?

Or did you mean the slopes were flattened to remove the little head walls that created the original drops that might be a bit steeper?
At my local hill I noticed two years ago that a run where there were three headwalls had been knocked down to one straight run. Never knew why that was done, but I suppose for the same reason you stated?

This is fabulous, congratulations!
I hope you get to share so we can read the article.

Don't be hard on your self in the picture either. You look wonderful and I just see someone having a great time loving what they do. : )

I think they were trying to even things out from side to side, maybe improve visibility and reduce the pucker factor of not being able to see beyond the visual edge. Ultimately a good thing, I guess, but it feels a bit intense in terms of changing a slope when they were pretty fun they way they were, challenges and all. The same happened on forest service mtb trails not at the resort.

I look pregnant and am totally buck toothed, but the enthusiasm is spot on. Jackson Hole Magazine winter 2025-2026 is coming out this week and they did a feature article on 5 of us old time instructors for the 60 year anniversary of the resort. The photoshoot was a blast as I got to bring my dear friend along and the weather was perfect. This was last winter for this winter.

No idea which one this is, but I owe a drink to the Diva that names it first!
Apologies for it being a bit cloudy, but was over NH as best I could tell.

Absolute torture to see things like this when you have to go and work!

Wildcat has narrow twisty trails like that.

True, but it's not Wildcat. Just checked.

I looked at Gunstock, Cranmore, Crotched, Ragged Mt, Loon, Cannon, Wildcat, Attitash, Bretton Woods, King Pine, Waterville Valley. Oh, and Black Mountain, Pat's Peak, Sunapee. None of those. Did I forget one?

Maybe Vermont?

Google lens is saying Tupper - ah no. That's not Big Tupper and it's in eastern NY. Also maybe Attitash?

Attitash has 2 peaks... I'm gonna ask my coworkers and see if anyone recognizes it.

Edit: my coworker says Sunapee, and looking at the trail map and base area, I'm pretty sure he's right.

I would agree with Sunapee. Mountainview Lake and Mud Pond have rather distinct shapes that match up.
I would have been looking due south when I took this, and most maps have a north up orientation, so my picture is actually upside down according to maps I guess.

Okay, a drink to @diymom ! I guess @RachelV too for her efforts. : )

I was getting our Christmas decorations out & I have these little skiers. They belonged to my grandmother. They are part of a winter set w horse & carriage, skaters & sledders. I think these were popular in the 40s - 60s. My sister has my mother's set. The little red skier lost her skies long ago.

Don't let a Ski Diva (even a tiny one) go without her skis!
If I'm not mistaken, these are Barclay figures and you might find replacement skis with some searching, but perhaps these would suffice.........

Not original, and lacking in sentimental value for sure, but hey she can be an older lady with modern gear who's not afraid to still get out there! : )

@GladeDuchess - Thank you for the info - I will look for her replacement skis - new equipment is not just for the young - also the young at heart.

I think the original skies are scattered somewhere in the decoration boxes. These figures are 100% cast lead not sure if that identifies them as Barclay figures. I believe they had to stop making them due to all the lead rules that came about in the 70s.
