Went out to Gunstock in NH today, just for a day trip... they basically had one top to bottom run open. On my third run I hear someone scrape the ice right behind me. I turn around and see a kid on a board barely stop literally two inches behind me. I keep going; in about 30 seconds I hear the ice scrape again, and I am catapulted down the mountain, something hits my head, I lose my skis... sure enough, it's the same kid who now flew into me, full speed. I almost killed him.

Now I'm home with a mild concussion and I can't move my arm. *Whine* :(

Oh my. I'm sorry to hear about your crash and concussion. Definitely take it easy - even a mild concussion is a serious issue. Hopefully, the kid got his ticket yanked.

That really stinks. Hope you feel better soon! I agree -- hope he had his ticket yanked.

I have a friend who was hit by a boarder at Killington on his second day of the season. Ended up with a broken clavicle and a huge slice in his leg, down to the bone.

Oh, I'm so sorry. Remember you are not at fault here. He was above you. Rest, relax and get back out as soon as possible. Ah, were you wearing a helmet??

So sorry to hear that . Take it easy. Stories like these always scare me because I worry about some crazy hitting my kids. I do hope he lost his ticket and sincerely apologized to you.

I am sorry to hear that you are hurt, and it is SO frustrating to hear how it happened.

You often see these folks who look like an accident waiting to happen... I am no longer polite if they get too close for comfort. Probably they think I am crazy ol' lady but I don't care :mad2:

Relax and take care of yourself; concussions are not fun.

DITTO!

also sorry to hear about your injury, relax and get better.

Is pepper spray allowed on the mt? I"m thinking of getting some for just such occasions!

I agree that pepper spray was in order here!!! Hopefully, his ticket got yanked. I hope he at least had the decency to see if you were okay! :mad2:

Ugh, I'm so sorry. Rest up and get well soon!

I hope the punk apologized and got booted for the day. People need to learn some decency on the slopes. Slamming into someone at full speed from behind is just completely uncalled for. Because it's completely avoidable. Jerk.

I'm so sorry you went through this. Nothing irritates me more than gung-ho, irresponsible, arrogant, inconsiderate boarders on the hill. All but 1 near miss I've had was from a boarder behind me cutting it way too close. They don't pay attention, or they just don't care. Either way, it's wrong, and it sucks when you have to pay the price for their stupidity. Feel better soon!

Adding my get well note here. A concussion, ugh, and :mad2: to the perpetrator. I got knocked silly once by same at Sunday River (after which I never felt the same about the place), no concussion but it took me awhile to get up. Boarder long gone. (If my son had been around.....look out, perpetrator...)

Hope you're feeling better soon!!

I've generally found it's more of an inconsiderate angsty teenagers problem. Would be interesting to see stats on % skiers/riders by age group.

So sorry this happened to you, sounds like it was nasty. I ski and I hit someone from behind once -- not hard, he basically just tipped over -- and I was *so* embarrassed. Sounds like this kid was being pretty irresponsible vs. just taking an unlucky fall, though.
