I saw the funniest thing yesterday while skiing at Blue Mountain in PA. Well, I saw many funny things, actually. There was the ZZ Top wannabe (beard and all)... the cowboy... the Fonzie brigade (skiing in jeans and leather jackets - the jeans were even cut to fit over the boots!)... awful one-piece outfits circa 1982 (some in blinding colors, of course)... but this one took the cake.

I was stopped to the side on the trail, and saw a man and woman coming down. The woman was ahead, and the man was talking. I thought they were together, until I saw she paid him no mind, and skied away from him. As he got closer, I saw who he was talking to - one hand on his cell phone, the other hand holding both poles! And it was a full-blown conversation! I of course busted out laughing, out loud, with all intention of him knowing it was directed at him - although I think he was oblivious. What is WRONG with people?! :noidea:

it's about time for the cell-phone jerk. too funny, I've not seen that yet.

Here's one: yesterday while at Bear Mt. at Killington, I'm watching an "older" guy ski...not too bad a skiier but not phenomenal, but as he's turning, on each turn he does this huge double-pole action, like pushing himself with his poles. WEIRD, I've never seen that before.

also, I think a fellow was smoking a pipe on the chair ahead of me (legal pipe, not the illegal kind)

A pipe?! That's classic. I know we've discussed this in another post, but I just don't understand skiers who smoke. Seems counterproductive, but whatever.

Did he have serious booty side-to-side action with his double pole plant as well? They are my favorite slopeside comedians

I think so, but he was so weird I didn't really check out his booty ; )

As someone who is a manager at a wireless cell phone provider, I think that's hilarious! He'll be stopping into a store no doubt to say "my phone doesn't work".... "Sir, you have liquid damage, you got it wet"...He'll reply the typical.."I never got it wet".... uh huh....

I feel like I'm attached at the hip <literally> most of the time to my cell phone because of my work. Skiing is definately a "me" time to leave the cell in the car, ignore everyone else, and just have fun! I'm looking to get a helmet, and I've seen the ones with the Bluetooth ear covers... no way! Music yes, cell phone use... NOOOO! Leave me alone!

Around Tremblant the guys manage to wedge the flip part of the phone into their helmets. Or now they have the blue tooth in the helmet. And it was retro weekend at Tremblant too. Old 80's suits, skis and rear-entry boots. Jeans too. No kilts this weekend!!
