Olympic Results Discussion - Spoiler Alert!

I thought I'd get us started with a thread where we can discuss the results of various events where everyone knows to open at their own risk. :p

Last night before I went to bed I was watching the Men's Road Race event where the Chilean and Bolivian had a huge breakaway. They were ahead by about 7 miles at one point. But, as happens in cycling the breakaway was too early and they were eventually reeled in by the peleton and a Spaniard won the race and the US team was left out of the medals.

I must have missed the cycling while I was at work this morning, but I got home in time to watch our #1 ranked men's beach volleyball team suck it up on the court. They did NOT play well at all.

I'm watching the opening ceremonies now during the break in the action before primetime!

Okay, that men's 4x100 relay was absolutely incredible! Especially after all the talking the French were doing before the race.

Did anyone else see the men's 4x100 Freestyle relay swim race????? HOLY COW!!!

It was phenomenal!! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. On the last leg my neighbors must have thought I was nuts, I kept shouting "GET HIM>>>GET HIM>>>GET HIM>>>!!!!!"

And ya know what?? He did.... the French should really mind what they about "smashing" anyone on the US men's swim team...They had very blank looks of shock for awhile after that. :bag:

It was awesome. :yahoo:

I didn't see it until this a.m. and avoid the newspaper/tv until I did. For those of us who can't manage to stay up for the entire broadcast (which runs until midnight EDT), download the streaming video player from NBC - it's nice. Many, many events and medal ceremonies available for viewing. So I watched the 4 x 100 at about 6:30 this a.m. - WOW! I vividly recall Mark Spitz garnering all those golds all those years ago. Looks like that record will fall this Olympics, and to another American!

Same here - I was yelling at the TV and then made my husband wake up and come out in the living room to watch it (yay for TV with a DV-R so you can rewind it!)
