I love anything Dookey posts! He's truly an original!

Did you see the pics of him from LGC last spring?
His outfits are definitely colourful!

OK, is it just me or is this guy's "lingo" just EXTREMELY annoying? I actually physically grimaced every time I saw the word "hella". Nails on a friggin chalkboard, I tell ya. :frusty:

JMHO (this is coming from a non-Epic person)

Dookey is just too cool for me. [said in sarcastic voice] I can't imagine sitting having a beer apres ski and having to listen to him. STFU (I'll bet he knows what that means)

I couldn't even skim all the way through his first post without wanting to go and do something else. It wasn't so much the lingo, as the blow by blow, and then Bong and I zipped up our jacks and legged 10 steps.....whatevs

If you were an epic reader and knew the people he was talking about this would be much funnier to you. Dookey doesn't always talk like that but he does sometimes for fun. Come on :chillpill:

I'll bet you're right it might be hillarious if I knew "BONG".

I didn't read Tom Sawyer (or was it Huckleberry Finn?) because I hate translating as I read. So, didn't read this either. Same with spelling. If people want me to read their posts, they'll learn to spell, punctuate, etc.

And, yeah, I'm an old fart.

Wow, I'm just coming into this thread now! That's an interesting trip report, to say the least.

FWIW, the only thing I can add is that I skied with Bong last year at Steamboat, and he's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. And Bong is his given name -- no drug humor intended. His family is from China.

I still think it's funny. Snowhot, how old is he?
I think late 30's
He works in the music industry, somewhere at the top of the food chain.
SNWL, I think you'd really like him. He's got an awesome sense of humour.

And ladies, if you read some of his stuff on Epic, you'll see that he can spell and is actually quite articulate, but he likes to mix things up and get interesting.

Hella  .

Ummm......yeah.

Seriously ladies, he may be the nicest guy, yada yada, but the post is annoying. We all know those people on message boards that create (purposely or not) douchebag personalities on-line that are completely normal and cool in real life. That doesn't excuse them from being a douchebag on-line, IMO. Based on the one post I've seen (and I'm not going to take the time to get to know this guy by sifting through his other posts), I think he's annoying.

We each have our own idea of what's funny. Que sera, sera. To each his own. One man's junk is another man's treasure, etc, etc. :blah:

no offense ladies

I am sure these are very nice people, but when I skimmed through this thread, I thought Bong was, well the guys Bong that he just happened to be very fond of. What impression other than chronic am I suppose to get with names like this? Living in liberal college town, I get my daily dose of this behavior whether I want to or not, so to me it was simply...boring.....or should I say take a hit homie and pass it to the left.

Hey, I thought the same thing, too, til I met him. How awful when your name takes on a meaning other than what your parents intended! I had a good friend years ago whose name was Gay -- a perfectly good name that now means something different than her parents wanted.

As for myself, I don't get the whole alternate personna thing, either. But like sibhuskey says, I'm an old fart. And I'm sure I'm not the intended audience, either.

Hey, to each their own.

See and in a millon years, from reading that thread without the background, I never would have known the following:
1) That Bong was human in nature
2) That that was his real name
3) That he wasn't a dork

I guess that is why we have the opportunity to discuss in a format such as this the idiosyncrasies that go along with the stories we post, right Ski Diva?

He may be charming in person, but he is truly a dork in that posting. I mean "girlie"? Come on!

Okay ladies I'm going to lay it out there!

You are the first to criticize Epic for being too serious! You criticize it for being too intense!

Then a guy, who normally posts seriously, and offers good information, gets a little goofy in a creative trip report, and this is how you react? I'm actually surprised. I figured some of the divas would get a chuckle out of the lighter side of epic.

Ski Now Work Later, thank you for poking me to look at the TR. I laughed at it and am glad I read it.

I have a ton more I could say about Bong. He is an amazing man with a huge heart!
As an insight into the Epic community. This is a tribute thread last year when Bong lost his Kay

It has been brought to my attention, via pm that I have taken this a bit too personally.
Make no mistake, I have no hard feelings toward anyone in this thread.

I am the first to agree that Epic needs more estrogen some times, and have even urged some of the women on here to help me out on some of the gear threads over there.
We have a thread here that is aptly titled, "Why SkiDiva is women only" which is complaining about the machismo on Epic. I even laughed at that.

This thread, which was started with a good motive, has turned into a "Pick on Dookey and Bong thread". I happen to know that both of these guys are good guys. They can't come here to defend themselves, and I thought you should know that they are good guys.

If someone were to start a thread on Epic that picked on any one or all of you, I'd be the first to jump to your defense. I stand up for people I hold in high regard. You know I'll have your back!!

Yes, that's true.

I'm used to the banter on TGR, so I kid with my comments. Though that might be hard to understand online if you feel the tone on Epic is too strident for you.

It's always interesting to see how differently we can interpret the same thing.
